In this Erasmus Mundus Design Measures project, we intend to develop the first-ever European joint Master programme in the field of applied theatre and drama with the cooperation of four universities from Norway, the United Kingdom, Hungary and Germany: Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (Høgskulen på Vestlandet, HVL); Birmingham City University – Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (BCU); Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary and Braunschweig University of Art (Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig, HBK). The programme will include four compulsory physical mobilities for all recruited students and will offer 120 ECTS in four semesters. Non-educational partners with specific expertise and interest in the professional domains concerned, such as theatres, schools and social arenas will also take part in the master programme, offering practice and fieldwork for the students. We intend to explore the opportunity to apply the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes. Within the 15 months scope of the project, achieving university level (internal) accreditation in all four countries seems realistic, in addition, we will launch the external accreditation according to the European Approach (or as a plan B, national-level external accreditations in Germany and Hungary, where such accreditations are required). Regarding financing and long-term sustainability, we intend to apply for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in 2024 or 2025 (depending on when we are ready with both internal and external accreditations) to offer scholarships for the best students worldwide besides self-financing students. The master programme is developed in an underrepresented field, with the participation of underrepresented institutions mostly from underrepresented countries, responding to both a local and an international gap and need.
