Even though we have overcome the times of World Wars, social and political conflict is still an inevitable part of our society. We can sense violence and violations of human rights all around us, this is why the need to peacefully resolve conflict while promoting justice and healing has never been higher. With international civil wars in Syria, Yemen, and Libya hundreds of thousands of people have died and millions have become refugees. Consequences of the conflicts reached neighbouring countries like Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and European Union countries. Post-war reconciliation, political problems and many other challenges affected young people both directly and indirectly: restrictions on movement, inability to openly meet the "other" side, censorship, media control, limited freedom of speech etc. Many young individuals would like to see things improve. They have the capacity to be catalysts for peace and healing, or they have the potential to perpetuate a cycle of hatred, blame, and intolerance. They require assistance in order to improve their knowledge and confidence in order to become peer leaders and catalysts for peace in their communities. The project hopes to satisfy these needs with this initiative. The aim of the project is to help youth “transform themselves from objects and subjects of war into agents of peace”. It expresses deep concern for the refugee crisis and the countries affected by it. Our project wants to address the need for dialogue, transparency and focus on humanitarian help under different conflict-loaded circumstances. To bring young leaders new approaches, sensible working strategies and inclusive methods when taking this issue. We believe that this new approach to peace-building study will shape a better understanding among the participants of how to achieve, implement and sustain peace in local communities.
