Geo-AID is an international Master of Science (MSc) study programme in “Geo-Information Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Twins”. The programme fulfils the need for educating experts in geospatial data science, artificial intelligence and digital twinning to support efforts in addressing the challenges facing our planet, such as natural disasters, climate change, rapid urbanization processes, social inequalities, and the conservation of endangered species and natural habitats. It emphasises the importance of using cutting-edge technology to generate actionable insights and inform decision-making in support of a sustainable future. The programme integrates the academic excellence of four leading universities: University of Twente (The Netherlands), Sofia University (Bulgaria), Middle East Technical University (Turkey), University of Münster (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Germany) in a strategic partnership to support innovative academic practices. It is coordinated by the University of Twente, Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC). The international consortium jointly delivers the programme in collaboration with stakeholders from the public and private sectors. Geo-AID explicitly focuses on the priority areas of the European Union, namely investing in knowledge exchange and technical innovations for solving worldwide challenges. It allows the students to select their educational path and pursue studies in at least two foreign countries different from their residence. In addition, based on the large university networks and programme-associated partners, the students can select an internship to gain experience in a private organisation, knowledge and research centre, or a governmental institute. The duration of the programme is 24 months and corresponds to 120 ECTS, and is taught in English. Successful completion of the programme leads to a joint MSc degree.
