Project summary

International relations are constantly evolving and so are the security and defense issues. New armed conflicts, new forms of warfare are the signs of a troubled world society, in which cooperation and competition constantly overlap. All these geopolitical aspects raise new questions and create new needs in terms of security and defense. This is why we have chosen to unite six universities from around the world and form a consortium to create a Joint Master Erasmus Mundus in Security and Defense. The main objective of this Joint Master's Degree is to train students to become experts in the field of security and defense, capable of understanding these in the best possible way and to have a complementary vision of them. The JANUS Joint Master Erasmus Mundus will bring an added value to the students insofar as they will be trained in a perspective of decompartmentalization of disciplines in order to be able to react effectively to the globalization of insecurity by mastering the importance of the geopolitical and cultural contexts. The training that will be set up has as a starting point: the lack of a European and world catalog integrating only one or another aspect of security or defense. The priority of all the participants is the coherence of a program centered on the training of analysts capable of envisaging the current and future strategic challenges that can impact the European Union and its neighbors in the complementary fields of defense and security. The project consists in setting up a sustainable and innovative training, both from an administrative and pedagogical point of view, based on mobility and cooperation of its actors in order to build an inclusive and resilient society. The best students from all over the world will be selected and will be able, thanks to a training that combines theoretical and practical aspects of security and defense, to claim an immediate integration into the job market.
