Western Balkan economies face challenges with regard to employment and human capital development. Despite the fact that skills are crucial for economic prosperity, social cohesion and broader wellbeing, there is a fundamental gap between Western Balkans VET provision and labour market needs in what concerns green and digital skills. INVEST seeks to enhance the preparedness of institutions active in VET to provide relevant skills for the green and digital transition in the Western Balkans. By aligning digital literacy and sustainability-oriented competences with EU and international benchmarks, INVEST will boost the role that institutions active in VET have in the delivery of job-related skills and will help to establish them as Continuous Professional Development hubs for secondary VET schools in Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The INVEST Framework will describe the knowledge, skills, competences, values and mindset that VET learners should acquire in order to transition to, and thrive in, the labour market, with a particular focus on skills for the green and digital transition. The INVEST Capacity Building Programme will empower trainers and educators active in Vocational Education and Training on forward-looking green and digital skills identified in the INVEST Framework as well as on updated methodologies, pedagogical strategies and resources to boost the sustainability-oriented values and mindset of learners. Finally, INVEST Local Pilots will contribute to transfer these knowledge, skills and methodologies to local secondary VET schools in Albania, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
