Project summary

The granted of Moldova as an EU candidate state in June 2022, marks a historical step on our path towards the EU. The perspective to become a member of the European Union requires the implementation of the EU acquis towards green transition and climate-neutrality. One of the most important EU target for 2030 in supporting the Green Deal is to reduce net emissions by at least 55% in a responsible way. Given that education is both an end in itself and a means that contributes to overcome this major challenges, universities MUST equip the students with new skills in line with Industry 4.0, to support the greener manufacturing and more sustainable economy and society. In this regard, based on a profound need analysis in the MD HEIs partners, the NEEDEDU4.0 project was designed. The project intends to accelerate the transition towards Education4.0 in MD HEIs for a better employability of the university graduates, thereby also contributing to achieve the EU acquis towards green transition and climate-neutrality.It aims to reinforce the staff and virtual lab capacity, thereby enhancing the quality of education and study programmes in mechanical engineering at 3 MD HEIs. NEEDEDU4.0 project addresses the identified needs of bridging this disproportion by reinforcing the role of HEIs in assisting 4th Industrial Revolution in Moldova through: • Development and implementation of a new joint inter-university master program in mechanical engineering with a special focus on Industry 4.0 within 3 Moldovan HEIs • Strengthening the capacities of Moldovan HEIs, implementation of innovative learning and teaching methods through Teach-the Teacher Programme NEEDEDU4.0 will lead to the achievement of the following main outputs which will be sustainable after the lifetime of the project, in particular: • 1 new joint inter-university master programme • teaching materials for at least 18 courses • 3 virtual Labs • long term cooperation with EU and non-academic partners
