Climate-smart agriculture production & processing supports food security and a sustainable environment. It is an answer to the effects of climate change, which make agricultural development in Ghana more challenging than ever before. But applying climate-smart technology by farmers and processors requires a modern skilled workforce that can operate the technology. Our proposed CB-VET project is implemented in Ghana. It is a joint initiative of 2 Ghanese VET schools, 3 EU academic partners, 1 Ghanese private partner, and 1 Ghanese NGO. 2 additional VETs are included as associate partners for piloting project scaling. It receives full support from key public and private stakeholders. The project will build capacities at VETs to be more in the “driving seat” to educate improved “workable students”, better connected to the private industry, more responsive to labour market needs, digitally skilled, and sustainable-oriented sector professionals that Ghana’s future needs. To achieve this, the project supports the VETs in facilitating private-public ecosystems, and in developing post-production short courses in addition to their already upgraded production-focused curricula. Objectives of the action are: 1. Build capacity of VET providers to strengthen cooperation between private & public stakeholders in vocational education and training 2. Improve the quality and responsiveness of VETs to economic and social developments in the country, and to enhance the labour market relevance of skills provision 3. Align VET provision to local, regional and national development strategies. The proposed CB VET Ghana project builds on the project partners’ experience & lessons in Ghana, other African countries, and in the EU. It also builds on the foundations that have been built during the past 5 years, through Dutch-funded support to the VET landscape in Ghana. The project is anchored in the EU Policy on VET Excellence, and in the Erasmus+ Objectives and Priorities.
