Project summary

The vision of the project is to increase employability and civic engagement of young people. We plan to provide youth (15 - 19yo) with the volunteering opportunity which will help them develop skills needed for the 21st century job market. We also want to attract their attention to societal issues, such as the lack of digital skills needed for everyday life of today, among senior citizens. With this we aim on developing: team work, mentoring skills, responsible citizenship, communication skills, intergenerational skills among youth. We also want to raise the capacity of youth workers to engage young volunteers in activities related to real societal issues, and through this raise their self-confidence, leadership skills and responsible citizenship. The additional benefit will be provided for seniors, who will improve their digital skills and literacy, will get more attention from young generations, will have fun and will be more adapted to life in the 21st century. We are planning to involve 6 countries, and 3 youth workers in each country; 30 young volunteers per country; 30 seniors per country to be mentored. The planned activities are: PR1 UPSKILL Educational content on mentoring seniors including skills matrix PR2 UPSKILL Training for youth workers PR3 UPSKILL mentorship program for youth to mentor seniors on digital competences PR4 UPSKILL guidebook on "hackathon" for seniors mentored by young people National "hackathon" - senior teams compete in use of digital skills (online banking, ordering food online, checking the relevancy of information sources, scheduling medical examinations, internet safety, using social networks...) International youth exchange - young participants of the project will gather to discuss and exchange experience and to share the gained knowledge and skills with young people in the country hosting the event. Final conference will provide the opportunity for seniors to share their experiences as well.
