Improving co-management and decision making practices in high-schools. This project addresses the need for greater democratization of high-schools and improved participation in decision making processes of high-school students. As such the goal of the project is to contribute toward systemic and meaningful democratic participation in decision making practices in high-schools. This will be achieved through the creation and piloting of a co-management model for decision making in 10 high-schools in the Western Balkan, which is based on the Council of Europe’s model for co-management between decision makers and young people. With this we aim to include innovation practices for democratic participation in the Western Balkans. The co-management model will be made in a participatory manner by 20 students and 10 teachers who will come from the targeted 10 schools. After creating the model, in a period of 4 months the model will be piloted in each of the 10 schools. As a concluding activity, a replication publication will be published with real scenarios from the piloting phase. We plan to include numerous stakeholders in the project such as: representatives from Ministries for education, high-schools interested in the project, civil society organizations working in education, media etc. The impact of the project will be on several levels. -Students will acquire critical skill for participation such as: advocacy, teamwork, communication skills. -Communication between students, teachers and school administration will be improved and more frequent -Co-management model will become part of the formal functioning of the 10 schools -Co-management model will be replicated to other interested schools -Interest in participation within the high-school councils will be increased -On a longer term, students will improve their democratic and participatory attitudes and will be active citizens in the society.
