Teacher Acquisition in Vocational Education and Training - This 2-year transnational project aims at identifying and sharing relevant practices, investigating current legal frameworks, and proposing effective methods when it comes to boosting teacher acquisition in vocational education and training (VET) in Europe, while actively enhancing cooperation between VET providers and employers. Two main systems of teacher acquisition will be given particular attention through this project, namely schemes enabling hybrid teaching (teachers working both in business and in school), and schemes encouraging second-career teaching (professionals fully transitioning to the teaching profession). This will be addressed from the perspective of tackling teacher shortages in VET, but also of increasing quality of teaching and encouraging further cooperation between industry and education. These objectives will be achieved through qualitative and quantitative research, peer learning activities (PLAs) in several EU countries, the identification of necessary teaching competences for craftsmen, the development of a curriculum proposal for an induction programme, the preparation of a practical guidelines for school leaders, the creation of policy recommendations, as well as regular communication and dissemination.
