Project summary

The unique nature of adult education make it imperative that adult learners are not only actively involved in the learning process but also shape it and progress it. Creating learning spaces where the educational process is based on the voice of the learner, inherently democratizes it leading to a deeper connection with both society and the learning topic at hand. EAEA members and the wider network of adult learning organisations in Europe are increasingly working on developing more learner-led approaches. To answer to that the ENHANCE project will focus on bottom-up approaches and learners as agents of change in their communities, through the creation of a comprehensive and interactive matrix of existing initiatives that promote learners’ voices, the creation of a roadmap, set of recommendations and booklets for enhancing learners’ voices, as well as the development of a series of podcasts that will be socially activated in the public space. The ENHANCE Project aims to effectively implement its outcomes by targeting three distinct and complementary levels of participation, including policy makers and civil society groups, adult education organizations, where various opportunities are available for their active involvement in policy-related activities and adult learners, particularly those who have experienced discrimination based on their gender, social status, race, culture, and academic performance, whether as individuals or as part of a community. Due to the well-rounded mix of international associations, EAEA and Solidar, national adult learning providers, AONTAS and local initiatives from rural areas, FARNEBO, NHE, ABC, DAS KOLLEKTIV, in the 30 months of the project duration, Dec. 2023 to May 2026, ENHANCE will strive for diversity and inclusivity in education through fostering inclusive environments that promote equity and equality, and advocating for people's participation in democratic life as well as in the 2024 elections for the European Parliament.
