Project summary

AgrBIZZ is partnership between agro-HEIs in Cameroon (CM), Ghana (GH), Denmark (DK), Finland (FIN), and the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) for transformation of agro-entrepreneurship (agropreneurhship) education. Based on the experiences of the consortia members, research done in partner HEIs (ref. 2.1) and confirmed by the literature findings and policy documents, the lack of entrepreneurial mind-set hinders graduates’ employability, and prevents their capacity to employ or becoming entrepreneurs themselves. This is a critical challenge of Sub-Saharan African (SSA) agricultural/bioeconomy sector which at the same time, through circular economy based agri-value chains offers the most job opportunities in the agriculture-based economies of Cameroon and Ghana as well as in SSA at large. AgrBIZZ is in line with the objectives of the E+/KA2 call by responding to the needs of agro-HEIs to reform their curricula to be work-life responsive, to up-grade pedagogical teacher competencies, to integrate innovative climate-smart agropreneurship (CSA) into the curricula and to close the gap between universities and world of work. Innovative competence-based curricula, student-centered learning methods and collaboration with business, would allow graduates to become problem-solvers and solution-creators and HEIs to become catalysts of economic and social development. The objective of modernizing the HEIs to meet the needs of the society, is in the core of the call. Also, following the objectives of the call, role of European HEIs is to share peer-based their extensive experiences on student-centered curricula planning and delivery (Professional Teacher Competencies), CSA-based entrepreneurship education and collaborative learning ecosystem creation. AgrBIZZ thus contributes to sustainable growth and job creation in Cameroon and Ghana.
