Project summary

In a world where agriculture's impact on climate change is undeniable, and Southeast Asia faces disparities in food security and development, HARVEST emerges as a beacon of change. Guided by the principles of organic farming and inspired by global initiatives like the European Green Deal, the Farm to Fork Strategy and the Paris Agreement, its mission is clear: transition Southeast Asia (SEA) towards greener and more sustainable agricultural and food systems practices with the aim to combat climate change and food insecurity. To achieve this, HARVEST will focus on empowering Higher Education Institutions in SEA to lead this transition. Through the creation of specialised micro-courses and micro-credentials, HARVEST will equip students with essential green competences and transversal skills, addressing the evolving demands of society and the job market in Indonesia, Camboadia and Vietnam, leading to the integration of these courses into existing university curricula, following a competency-based and challenge-oriented approach. Simultaneously, at the institutional and societal levels, Students Innovation Hubs will serve as collaborative spaces, where students will be guided throughout every phase of their entrepreneurial journey by providing access to state-of-the-art resources, mentorship programmes, and networking opportunities, bridging the gap between academia and industry. Moreover, a continuous dialogue forum will be created to facilitate meaningful engagement with industry stakeholders, ensuring students' access to the labour market and contributing to sustainable community development. By focusing on education, innovation, and stakeholder collaboration, HARVEST will aim not only to educate the future workforce but also to catalyse a transformation towards sustainable practices in agriculture and food systems. It is not just about adapting to change; it is about leading the change towards a greener and more sustainable future for Southeast Asia.
