The FOCUS project is dedicated to strengthening Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) education in Sub-Saharan Africa by enhancing curricula, teaching methods, and professional development programs. The project addresses the dynamic challenges of workplaces and the consequences of occupational accidents. Key objectives include improving the quality and relevance of OHS education, fostering the development of market-oriented curricula and professional development programs at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), and strengthening networks between academia, government, civil society, and industry. FOCUS is committed to contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing global trends such as economic globalization and increasing inequalities. It actively supports socio-economic recovery, growth, and prosperity in eligible third countries. Additionally, the project aligns with the digital transformation by enhancing digital skills, connectivity solutions, and leveraging artificial intelligence applications. A notable emphasis of FOCUS lies in fostering soft skills for students, educators, and professionals, thereby contributing to sustainable education. The project aims to bridge the gap between education and the labor market, promoting employability and facilitating access to education. FOCUS represents a comprehensive initiative poised to make a significant impact on OHS education, aligning with global goals and ensuring the development of well-equipped professionals for the evolving workforce in Sub-Saharan Africa.
