Project summary

The proposed design measures will be geared towards the creation of a full-time four-semester (120 ECTS) MA program, with one point of entry in September every year, with an anticipated admission of 25-30 students. The project brings together Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from Europe and Africa in the creation of a unique program representing diverse academic experiences, as well as political, economic, religious, social and educational systems. The partnership is formed by 7 HEIs: Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski (SU), University of Bucharest (UM), University of Glasgow (UG), University of Johannesburg (UJ), University Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (UCAD), and Mahatma Gandhi Institute (MGI) in collaboration with the University of Mauritius (UoM), which have stated their willingness and readiness to develop, deliver, and recognize jointly, a proposal for a two-year MA Program “EU-Africa Dialogues:From Shared Legacy Towards a Common Future”. The program focuses on historical legacies and current shared challenges, providing an interdisciplinary understanding of African-European relations. As an interdisciplinary program it aims to integrate key areas of global and common concern for the two continents - forced migration, conflict prevention and peacebuilding, development of intercultural competences, the use of “soft” power in international relations, sustainable development, promotion and protection of human rights, and a broad emphasis on health and wellbeing.
