Countries: TR · Grant: €60,000

Project summary

Biomaterials and tissue engineering programs in various HEIs have contributed to the growth of numerous professionals over the last decade and to drive innovation to the marketplace. These programs are often focused on specialized technologies due to limited local resources. This hinders the full exploitation of the potential in such a comprehensive field as biomaterials and tissue engineering and therefore collaborative pools of resources are needed for the development of multi-perspective applications. Erasmus Mundus calls provide important opportunities for the creation of these collaborative resource pools and the generation of shared value. INNOTISSUE is dedicated to designing a comprehensive joint master's program in the field of biomaterials and tissue engineering. The project adopts a vision that emphasizes scalability, sustainability, and integration of different disciplines to meet the needs of the global growing and aging population. Coordinated by Yildiz Technical University (YTU) in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (UPB) and Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC), the project is strengthened by a support network of more than 10 academics and industry leaders. This collaboration aims to create a network involving public institutions, HEIs, and industrial partners, promoting multidimensional mobility. A curriculum of 120 ECTS and a holistic education program will be offered in a modular framework. INNOTISSUE will also consider the cornerstones of social awareness, considering cultural aspects, gender balance, and equality of opportunity in the design of the joint program in Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering. The integrative, holistic, and multidimensional complementary project, INNOTISSUE, has the potential to pioneer the enrichment of a culture of global know-how transfer, innovation, and strategic collaboration by strengthening the joint endeavor in existing programs in the field.
