Countries: NO · Grant: €60,000

Project summary

We are applying for support to develop a joint Master's programme in health, gender and sexualities. The proposed project represents a pioneering educational collaboration between eight universities in Africa and Europe. This initiative aims to address the urgent need for inclusive and comprehensive postgraduate education that interrogates the intersections of health, gender, and sexualities in a global context. With a specific focus on gender and sexuality minority populations, the programme seeks to equip future scholars, policymakers, and practitioners with critical skills and knowledge to navigate and influence the complex socio-cultural and legal landscapes that impact health outcomes and access to care. Over a 15-month development phase, the consortium will engage in a series of strategic activities, including curriculum mapping, quality assurance framework development, and inter-institutional agreement drafting. The project will leverage the existing Africa-Europe Cluster of Research Excellence in Health, Gender and Sexualities (CoRE HGS) as a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange. By integrating diverse academic perspectives and adhering to high standards of quality assurance, the program is designed to foster innovation, promote transnational education, and contribute to the internationalization of the European Higher Education Area. The consortium's commitment to robust communication, stakeholder engagement, and visibility of EU funding will ensure that the programme's development is not only transparent but also resonates with a broad audience. Through this initiative, we aim to create a transformative educational experience that not only upholds EU values but also equips students with the tools to critically engage with and contribute to knowledge in the increasingly vital field of health as it intersects with diverse gender and sexualities.
