Countries: HU · Grant: €60,000

Project summary

The goal of this project is to develop a 2-year transnational Planetary Health Transdisciplinary Master's program to train experts who - with a holistic approach – will be able to better understand the interconnections of environment and health and to collaborate across disciplines fostering effective solutions to complex challenges. It is crucial to delve into the study of various factors influencing health impacts such as societal norms and healthcare systems. The recent COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the critical need for experts who can operate at the science, policy, and society interface, offering solutions to safeguard planetary health. This urgency arises from the mounting pressure of human activities on ecosystems, the escalation of global warming, and the spread of tropical diseases and zoonoses into Europe, alongside the challenges posed by rapid urbanization. The objectives of the PATH project proposed by 6 European universities to tackle the abovementioned challenges are: 1.Creation of a consortium of HEIs of complementary expertise able to implement our joint master’s program, relying on the existing cooperation between CHARM-EU partners; 2.Developing a fully integrated curriculum in planetary health fostering systems thinking needed for transdisciplinary education. 3.Searching for stakeholders from the EU and beyond (e.g., Africa, Asia) to establish a wide network of partners in planetary health. 4.Developing the joint (double/multiple) degree policy and strategy for the accreditation of the MSc program. 5.Exploring the fit-for-purpose adaptation of the joint admission, student service, physical mobility, joint administration/financial mechanisms developed by CHARM-EU. 6. Contributing to the better knowledge management, organisational practices and enhanced capacities of the institutions. 7.Fostering internationalization of participating universities by promoting project outcomes.
