Project summary

The aim of this project is to design a joint international master programme to train young professionals in the governance and management of natural resources and sustainable development. The project will develop an application for a transdisciplinary Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD), which will be offered by a consortium consisting of some of Europe’s leading universities, and one third country partner university, in the teaching and research on natural resources and sustainability. Insufficient or disciplinary restricted understanding of the governance and management of natural resources hampers European economic and environmental cooperation and impedes the European Union’s efforts at efficiently promoting its ambitious programmes in the European Green Deal, including circular economy, the security of supply of raw materials, and sustainable economic development. The proposed master programme will give students deep knowledge and understanding of the long-term political and economic aspects of natural resource governance and management. The new and innovative master programme aims to meet demand in both the public and private sector labour market for students with a multitude of transdisciplinary skills and knowledge of natural resource management. This design measures project will strengthen the international cooperation and development of innovative teaching practices on the importance of natural resources and sustainability. By utilizing the partners’ complementary expertise in these areas and extensive teaching portfolios, this EMDM project will curate a comprehensive master programme of 120 ECTS. This innovative master programme aims to meet demand in both the public and private sector labour market for students with a multitude of transdisciplinary skills.
