Mozambique faces significant challenges from climate change, impacting agricultural areas with recurring disasters and severe drought while businesses still have weak human and technical climate adaptation capacity. The VECRA-MOZ project aims to increase human capacity for climate-resilient and sustainable agriculture, offering training and employment opportunities for youth. Our goal is to promote Vocational Excellence in climate-resilient agriculture, ensuring high-quality skills for jobs in an innovative and sustainable rural economy, focusing on partnerships with companies practicing climate-resilient agriculture. Our consortium includes Mozambican partners: ADPP (Associação Moçambicana para a Ajuda de Desenvolvimento de Povo para Povo), Young Africa Professional Training Centre, , along with EU partners: Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) and CINOP, bringing international experiences to support capacity building with Mozambican partners. The private sector's involvement is through the Provincial Business Council of Sofala. The project starts with a joint kick-off in Mozambique to common understanding and planning, followed by in-depth sector analysis and partnership creation (WP2) to address climate-resilient AgriSkills, reviewing training modules and materials (WP3), Training of Trainers, and piloting of new modules (WP4). A national technical workshop will present the final modules, materials, and lessons learned. Our practices for vocational excellence in climate-resilient agriculture will be shared with European and African partners (WP5): practices aiming to structure a strong partnership culture that continuously aligns vocational AgriSkills training with the evolving needs of a climate-challenged Mozambique.
