Project summary

In the context of European youth engagement, both World Scouting (BES) and the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) play crucial roles in empowering young people and fostering intercultural dialogue. While Scouts focus on promoting peace education and active citizenship within local communities, ESN encourages young individuals to take part in societal activities during their time abroad, advocating for European citizenship and promoting cross-cultural understanding. Together, they aim to create spaces where young people feel empowered to speak up and make a difference, even amidst challenges to individual liberties. Within the project scope, the following three main objectives have been identified: O1) Ensure durable and relevant impact for the partner organisations and their member organisations all across Europe, in particular, their capacity to respond to evolving social needs, and to develop the ability of volunteers in responding to these needs. This core area focuses on providing knowledge, skills and attitudes to improve the quality programme, and the confident response of young people and youth leaders (ESNers and Scouts), by delivering activities and educational programmes for underrepresented communities, and groups in vulnerable situations. O2) Focus on the long-term impact and sustainability of youth actions in social integration, and preparedness in crisis situations as well as provide spaces for dialogue between young people tackling difficult emerging societal challenges. Member Organizations (MOs) require national and local partnerships, with strong mechanisms and structures to leverage them and their members, in specific contexts. O3) Enhance understanding of the value of inclusiveness and social cohesion, where young people engage as change agents and peer supporters in their communities by removing barriers to participation and integrating new and underrepresented groups.
