Project summary

The H2SkillsMed project aims to strengthen higher education institutions (HEIs) in Tunisia, Algeria, and Jordan by integrating green hydrogen technologies into academic curricula, research, and industry collaboration. These countries face common challenges in transitioning to clean energy, including curriculum gaps, weak academia-industry linkages, and limited research capacity. This project addresses these issues through multi-level capacity building, ensuring alignment with European and global sustainability goals. The project’s core objectives include: ✔ Developing specialized academic programs in green hydrogen, integrating four new modules into engineering and energy disciplines. ✔ Enhancing research capacity by equipping six university laboratories with hydrogen-related infrastructure. ✔ Strengthening university-industry collaboration by signing MoUs with key industry players, facilitating internships, workshops, and joint research projects. ✔ Improving digital accessibility by creating an e-learning platform, ensuring inclusion for rural and underrepresented students. ✔ Promoting international cooperation through policy integration, faculty mobility, and participation in European hydrogen networks. The H2SkillsMed consortium brings together 9 institutions from Tunisia, Algeria, Jordan, Greece, and Poland, and EPI green vision industrial partner, each contributing unique expertise. The University of Gabes (UNIVGB) serves as project coordinator, ensuring effective implementation. By equipping HEIs with innovative educational tools, industry-relevant research capabilities, and digital accessibility, H2SkillsMed will accelerate the Mediterranean region’s transition towards a hydrogen-based economy, fostering a skilled workforce for a sustainable future.
