The SmartCaNBE! (Industry 4.0 for Smart, Carbon-Neutral Built Environments) project, under the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM) action, aims to develop a joint, interdisciplinary Master’s programme that integrates Industry 4.0 technologies, digitalization, and sustainability in the built environment. Addressing the skills gap in smart building design, energy efficiency, and carbon neutrality, SmartCaNBE will establish the foundation for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s (EMJM) program. Coordinated by Kaunas University of Technology (KTU), the consortium includes TU Berlin, Politecnico di Milano, Frederick University, IIT Bombay, Bentley Systems Inc., and the Lithuanian Builders Association, ensuring a strong academia-industry collaboration. The project will: - Develop the structure, curriculum, and accreditation framework for a future EMJM in smart and sustainable built environments. - Establish mobility and cooperation mechanisms, ensuring student and faculty exchange. - Design innovative teaching methods, incorporating digital twins, automation, and AI-driven energy management. - Strengthen industry linkages, bridging academic research with practical applications in smart cities and energy-efficient construction. SmartCaNBE! will enhance the internationalization of higher education, support interdisciplinary learning, and contribute to the EU’s digital and green transition, preparing graduates to lead in carbon-neutral, intelligent urban development.
