Project summary

The project Towards an Una Europa Joint Master in “Managing European Cultural Heritage in a Mobile World. Tourisms, Interculturalities, Landscapes” aims to design a fully integrated new Master program, jointly developed and delivered by seven European universities, all members of Una Europa Alliance. The Joint Master topic responds to identified research gaps and to the “mobility turn” in heritage: Heritage, as a social construct, is increasingly the product of the movement and mobility of people, ideas, standards, and expertise. This paradigm shift requires a new generation of heritage researchers and professionals, able to manage heritage in an increasingly multicultural world, whom the Joint Master aims to educate. Three main focus areas have been identified, corresponding to the 3 future tracks of the Master program i) Tourisms and Heritage, ii) Heritage and Interculturality and iii) ‘Glocal’ Heritage Landscapes. During the HERIMOB project, a broad academic and non-academic stakeholders’ consultation is envisaged, in order to tailor the future graduates’ career paths, professional profiles, and Joint Master learning objectives and outcomes to the heritage sector job market needs. On the basis of this Consultation, the Joint Master study program will be designed, as well as the joint administrative procedures and mechanisms of the program. Finally, over the project duration, an accreditation of the program will be launched as well, with special attention related to the European Approach for Quality Assurance.
