Project summary

The BIOTECTURE project aims to modernize vocational education and training (VET) in Morocco by aligning it with the labor market and national policy objectives, which increasingly emphasize sustainability. In response to the country’s urgent need for climate-adapted urban planning and energy-efficient building solutions, evident in national policies and supported by initiatives such as the EU-Morocco Green Partnership, the project will develop innovative training curricula and digital tools that promote the integration of traditional Moroccan construction techniques with modern bioclimatic principles. Additionally, it will equip VET trainers with cutting-edge pedagogical methodologies to effectively transfer this knowledge. Bringing together a transnational consortium of European and Moroccan partners with expertise in VET, sustainable construction, digital learning tools, and environmental policy, the project will conduct sectoral research to identify skill gaps and develop modular curricula for VET trainers, learners, and professionals. Key outputs include a modernized training curriculum, an advanced bioclimatic architectural design curriculum, an interactive online learning platform, and policy recommendations for integrating sustainability into construction training frameworks and VET institutions. To ensure high-quality results, the project will organize pilot training sessions for 120 participants, whose feedback will refine both curricula. Additionally, a final international conference will facilitate knowledge-sharing, stakeholder engagement, and institutional collaboration, strengthening the project’s long-term impact. By the end, BIOTECTURE will establish a replicable model for integrating green construction principles into vocational education, strengthening VET institutions’ links to the labor market, and contributing to Morocco’s green and digital transition, as well as broader EU sustainability objectives, including the European Green Deal.
