Project summary

YO-IN (Youth Organisations for INclusion) is designed to transform the youth sector to fully include young persons with disabilities. The project connects youth organizations and disability advocacy organizations to equip youth workers, managers and volunteers with the skills, resources and motivation to break down barriers and ensure full participation for all. The backbone of YO-IN is a new European Quality Label that recognises youth organizations actively engaging in accessible and inclusive practices. Obtaining this label means that an organization has met practical, actionable and user-friendly standards, developed by experienced partners in the standards setting and youth and disability sectors. These standards will help organizations to achieve changes to their culture, activities and infrastructure, making them more inclusive, welcoming and open to all young people, regardless of disability. Through its step-by-step resources, digital self-assessment tools and hands-on activities, YO-IN will prepare youth organizations to integrate an inclusive perspective into all aspects of their work. Participants will learn how to engage young persons with disabilities in meaningful ways, design accessible communication, events and materials, and to advocate for the inclusion of disability in local, national and European policy agendas. The leadership of the European Disability Forum will ensure that the label will be widely promoted across Europe and will be integrated into main policies and programmes. We are convinced that inclusive youth organizations create progress for all. When young people with disabilities are able to fully participate, they bring new perspectives, skills and leadership potential that enrich everyone's experience. By fostering these strengths, YO-IN not only increases the effectiveness of youth organizations, but also strengthens social cohesion and paves the way for a more equal Europe, where all young people have the opportunity to shine.
