Project summary

Moldova, planning its EU Accession in 2030, is facing challenges in growing its economy, youth unemployment, and destabilisation by situation in the Transnistrian region. Acceleration of the digital and green transitions can facilitate economic growth and societal stability. MOMO-VET aims to support this by developing curricula within the green and digital skills domain, capacity strengthening VET staff, and modernising VET infrastructure. Vulnerable groups like women, prison inmates, and rural population will be supported to participate in education and the labour market. School processes will be digitised. Reinforcing basic digital skills will limit the impact of disinformation campaigns. English language skills will be improved in the project to facilitate trade and the future integration in the EU. We work together with the Moldovan VET institutes CEIU and VSH, the Romanian VET Liceul Tehnologic Hirlau, and CINOP, the Dutch VET expertise centre. This initial idea for this project has been formulated by the Moldovan and Romanian partners. The project will work in a needs-based manner to ensure sustainable project results. After a brief labour market study, 2 curricula will be developed up to pre-accreditation and piloted. One curriculum will be aimed at working in the digital/green industry supporting specific trades, the other curriculum will be aimed at applying green skills in the food sector. Cross-cutting elements like digital marketing will be added to the course material to attract more women to these professions. The staff will be trained based on a TNA and an exposure visit to the Dutch VET system. The needed infrastructure investments will be done supporting the digital and green transition of the VET institutes and Moldova as a country. Stakeholder workshops will be organised with the relevant public and private sector partners to ensure the offering of the VET institutes will be labour-market relevant and aligns with the national VET strategy.
