Generating an AI-EnThe grAceful AM project addresses the dynamic demands of the additive manufacturing industry. The rapid evolution of this sector necessitates a skilled workforce equipped with specialized knowledge (Li, 2022). The grAceful AM project will focus on the field of directed energy deposition (DED), a rapidly growing area of additive manufacturing and powder bed fusion with laser beam (PBF-LB). The demand for skilled personnel in these fields are steadily increasing, particularly in sectors like aerospace, energy, and automotive, where there is a workforce shortage. According to the needs analysis of the grAceful AM project, the addressed profiles will be determined. To bridge the existing skill gaps and contribute to innovation in vocational education and training (VET), the project proposes the development of an AI-supported learning platform. This innovative approach aligns with the Erasmus+ priority of addressing digital transformation in education, ensuring that VET institutions can effectively shift towards digital education and provide purposeful, job-specific learning experiences. In the grAceful AM project, an AI-supported student assistant platform will be developed, enabling students to access the topics they will learn throughout the course whenever and wherever they want, whether before or after class. Students will reinforce their learning through topic reviews, Q&A sessions, tests, and case studies, and most importantly, they will receive immediate feedback. Trainers, on the other hand, will be able to evaluate students' performance and provide support materials where needed. grAceful AM enhances the attractiveness of VET by catering to diverse learners and encouraging a culture of lifelong learning by employing AI technology. Ultimately, the grAceful AM project is not just a response to industry demands but a strategic initiative to empower the workforce, promote innovation, and maintain global competitiveness in the era of Industry 5.0.
