Project summary

A bold, innovative project that reimagines non-formal music education for young people in Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe—while forging vibrant cultural bridges with Europe. Building on the legacy of Music Crossroads Academies, which have empowered over 3,500 young musicians, AMPLIFY revitalizes training by blending cutting-edge digital tools with immersive, hands-on experiences. The project will develop custom digital learning platforms that deliver interactive courses in music performance, sound engineering, and creative entrepreneurship, breaking geographical barriers and enabling remote youth—especially women—to access professional-grade training. By coupling flexible online modules with dynamic in-person workshops, we spark artistic innovation and lay a solid foundation for future careers. International mobility empowers young creatives to embark on transformative journeys—from the dynamic Imagine Experience in Brussels to an exclusive Studio Residency in Maastricht. These exchanges offer invaluable exposure to European industry standards, direct mentorship from leading professionals, and foster cross-cultural collaborations that enrich both African and European creative landscapes. Beyond uplifting African youth, AMPLIFY creates mutual value. European partners, artists, and cultural institutions will benefit from fresh perspectives and innovative practices that invigorate their creative sectors. Cross-continental dialogue fosters shared knowledge, stimulates new artistic collaborations, and amplifies cultural richness, ensuring that creativity thrives on both sides of the channel. By strengthening local institutions with enhanced digital and managerial capacities, AMPLIFY transforms Music Crossroads Academies into self-sustaining hubs of innovation. Energetic and forward-thinking, the project inspires a new generation of artistic operators to dream big, collaborate globally, and shape the future of music and the creative industry across Africa and Europe.
