DigiHeritage is a project designed to modernize Europe’s cultural heritage sector by integrating advanced digital tools and innovative training methods. The project addresses critical skills gaps in AI-based cataloguing, blockchain for provenance tracking, and 3D scanning, enabling museums, archives, and cultural SMEs to preserve and valorize heritage in the digital age. It brings together a multidisciplinary consortium of HEIs, VET providers, cultural institutions, tech SMEs, and policy advisors from multiple European countries. Central to DigiHeritage is the development of a pioneering curriculum for both higher education and vocational training, complemented by micro-credentials aligned with EU frameworks. This curriculum prepares DigiHeritage Managers capable of driving technological innovation, ensuring ethical standards, and fostering entrepreneurial mindsets within cultural organizations. The project creates two flagship digital solutions: an AI-assisted Collaborative Platform for real-time data management and a HeritageChain tool leveraging blockchain for secure licensing and provenance. DigiHeritage also emphasizes inclusivity, actively promoting the participation of women and underrepresented groups in leadership roles. Comprehensive train-the-trainer sessions, pilot projects, and international knowledge camps form the backbone of the capacity-building program, equipping educators and cultural professionals with state-of-the-art digital competencies. Furthermore, DigiHeritage aligns with the European Skills Agenda, particularly the Pact for Skills, by offering targeted upskilling and reskilling pathways. It supports regional policy-makers with evidence-based recommendations to embed digital transformation in cultural heritage management. Through cross-border collaboration, DigiHeritage aspires to leave a lasting impact on the way Europe preserves, manages, and experiences its diverse cultural heritage.
