Project summary

STEAMedge Academy is an ambitious initiative aimed at revolutionizing teacher education by uniting emerging digital technologies (AI, IoT, drones) with sustainability-driven STEAM. It targets both pre-service and in-service educators in secondary education, offering integrated modules, flexible learning pathways, and cross-border collaboration. The project responds to the EU’s twin transitions—digital and green—by fostering transdisciplinary thinking, problem-solving, and inclusivity. Educators will gain practical experience in AI-powered personalized learning, IoT-enabled data gathering, and drone-assisted environmental investigations. These skills directly address labor market requirements for innovation and sustainability, while promoting equitable participation of women and underrepresented communities. A key aspect of STEAMedge Academy is its comprehensive approach. The consortium will develop a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) hosting micro-credentials, self-reflection tools, and learning modules, ensuring that at least 750 educators benefit from state-of-the-art digital and green competencies. Of these, a minimum of 100 are expected to complete personalized pathways, and at least 200 will earn formal micro-credentials. With a focus on at least 40% female participation and 30% coming from disadvantaged areas, the project underscores inclusion and diversity in STEAM education. Beyond immediate training, STEAMedge Academy aspires to systemic change. It builds on strategic partnerships, policy roundtables, and sustained collaboration to embed innovative practices into everyday teaching and institutional development. By consolidating the efforts of universities, teacher academies, policymakers, and industry stakeholders across Europe, STEAMedge Academy will deliver long-lasting reforms, enrich professional development, and strengthen the European dimension in education.
