The main objective of the partnership is creating the manual “Guide for trainers. Beautiful Mind – Open Educational Resources in non-formal senior education” with three methodological and practical components: • Active Mind and Body (Italy) is a module that consists of active teaching materials for seniors, connected with healthy nutrition, psychophysical exercises and stress management. A special guide will be written to present the ways of preserving wellbeing among people over 50 which influence the growth and raising awareness of the importance of psychological and physical well-being, which can be achieved through the development of innovative training materials. • Speed Reading and Mnemotechnics in active learning (Poland) is a module of methodical work, together with scenarios and work cards. Additionally, there will be also three instructional videos for the implementation of speed reading techniques (CD and online platform). • Learning on the net for adults (Spain) is a module of the handbook and the associated useful and handy e-course designed for trainers. Each part of the module will contain theoretical guidance for the trainer and practical exercises related to modern technologies, which can be used while teaching traditional methods: face-to-face learning, distance learning, self-education and peer-learning. The handbook will be dedicated to trainers, lecturers and teachers connected in non-formal adult education with particular attention to the needs of people over fifty years of age (as a group of disadvantaged and at risk of social exclusion). Each partner specializes in the field which will create training materials. Three parts of manuscript will form a coherent whole thanks to partners’ cooperation. The manual will contain training materials, worksheets, scenarios, test results, descriptions of teaching methods as well as visual materials, e-course that will be published in the open access on Creative Commons License. The whole is intended to support the process of teaching and learning seniors. The manuscript will published in English, Italian, Spanish and Polish. Thanks to dissemination of the project outcomes, the institutions involved in adult education will be able to use ready-made training materials in their work. The three key issues of the manual are designed to meet the needs of contemporary people and enable them to be the active participants of modern societies.
Project "Beautiful Mind" – Open Educational Resources in non-formal senior education was run in 2014-2016 by three institutions (Polish, Spanish and Italian) that were involved in adult education. The main aim of the partnership was creating and dissemination the manual for coaches “Beautiful Mind. The manual is dedicated to coaches, lecturers and teachers that are involved in non-formal adult education, especially for those over 50 – the group of people who is in danger of social exclusion. The manual was written in English (online version) and then each partner translated it into his national language. The manual includes: • Module 1. Trainings are related to speed reading technique and mnemonic technique. CBS also provides analytical and consulting services. Module 1 consists of 4 chapters – 3 of them are related to different mnemotechnics and the last one is a basic Speed Reading course. The additional materials are 3 movies for learning Speed Reading and the Link System. Each movie is subtitled in English, Spanish and Italian. They are available on online platform and were appendixes to the printed manuals. • Module 2. Active Mind & Body Responsible Partner: Italy Università delle LiberEtà del FVG (ULE) – is a Lifelong Learning Centre in Udine, engaged in permanent education and training. Today it has around 4.000 members and carries out almost 600 formative routes a year, which involve about 200 teachers. Module 2 contains three chapters, which aim at stimulating mental activity through physical activity and healthy diet. They consist of tips for coaches and materials that help people 50+ keep physical and mental wellness. Module 3. Living and learning in the net-society Responsible Partner: Spain – The Centre for the Innovation and Development of Education and Technology (further on referred to as CIDET) is a training and consultancy consortium focused on adult learning and educational technology. CIDET is set in the city of Castellón (Spain) but works in cooperation with partners throughout the whole country and abroad. Module 3 contains 7 chapters which show how Information and Communication Technologies can positively influence social development of adults and seniors. They can be used in traditional teaching, distance learning and also self and peer learning. The project’s results has already been used as materials that support adult and senior non-formal education in Europe. The dissemination level is high because the partnership has not only organized 4 multiplier events for 292 people but has also cooperated with many local national institutions. The printed manuals were distributed in Polish, Spanish and Italian organizations, that are involved in adult education and also in other interested institutions, such as libraries. All materials in the manual were prepared to answer to the current seniors’ and adults’ needs. They are dedicated to those who still want to develop their skills and be active participants of modern societies.
