Project summary

Health and Safety Plus Agenda 21 Strategic Partnership will enable five schools with similar profiles but different vocational subjects and backgrounds to work together All 4 partners have worked together in one way or the other and will rely on the results of previous European programmes, actual current partnerships and existing e-learning resource in order to produce teaching material, prepare future internships and meet with school curricula, and Agenda 21 aims for long-term project results The coordinator of the project was introduced to French partner through existing French-English county/region twinning and took part in LLL funded Leonardo preparatory visit in 10/2011. This visit coincided with the opening meeting of LLL 2011-2013 Leonardo Partnership project coordinated by a partner from Spain. It was centered on carpentry and initiated Britain's silent partnership throughout the project and British person of contact's attendance to final meeting in 06/2013 The cooperation between partner °4 and partner n°2 is threefold. Both schools cooperated in two Comenius partnership projects between 2010-2014. The results were educational videos and slideshows in connection with science (project 1) and miscellaneaous subjects (project 2). The expertise acquired during these projects will be a bonus for the new project. In addition, the Italian partner has been France's intermediary partner in 3 LLL LdV Mobility VET projects and helped find interships for carpentry students from the French school. Though carpentry is not taught at IIS Pertini Falcone, it has links with local carpentry companies. Plus 2 eTwinning projects were initiated in 2012-13 British coordinator and partner n°3 from Finland were invited to France by Conseil régional d'Auvergne in 11/2013 to attend an information meeting about new Erasmus Plus key action programmes and in order to disseminate about the projects and partnerships initiated by Conseil régional d'Auvergne (Finland) and between partner n°2 (France) and coordinator (United Kingdom). All five partners having connections with carpentry, teaching vocational subjects, health, science, and safety, and offering work placing for their students, a cooperation between the 4 seems obvious There are two mains objectives in our project. Firstly: producing and eLearning course on Health and Safety and affecting to the attitudes of students concerning the importance of health and safety in general. Secondly adjusting to Agenda 21 objectives (vii) 'Promote health education in schools, information exchange, technical support and training' as stated in the UN Environment Program environment for development. Future high quality ECVET mobilities are supported by this new preparation material to mobilities as well as the motivation of companies to receive foreing studetns for placements We intend to involve in mobilities about 10% of students and staff in each structure. But all the students studying in the same course will be implied one way or the other. Ideally, all the students from the same department will have something to do with the project. We will develop various activities to involve as many students and staff as possible within the structures. And we will also involve local companies or structures as silent partners. We will provide e-learning courses, peer-to-peer teaching, safety induction in companies and in the colleges, plus short-term work shadowing if relevant. We will make sure that students and staff take part in the reception of the visiting partners if they are not entitled to produce teaching material for the project (videos, slideshows, first-aid tests) All partners will meet in 09/2014 in France. Firstly because they will need to update after the project is accepted and (re)distribute the tasks between themselves. Secondly because the French school will celebrate its 50th anniversary and will organise a two-day conference. It will disseminate about its international opening in the presence of its past and present European partners and local and regional partners, authorities, educational staff, etc Each of the 4 partner countries will host a meeting with its partners to put into practise what will have been studied during e-learning courses and peer-to-peer teaching, or to provide peer-to-peer teaching and take induction or first aid classes in local companies and local schools when health and safety devices differ regarding the vocational subjects, or do not apply to national curricula. At the end of each meeting an evaluation will be organised as to the contents, productions and impact of the project Spain PIC 949444537 will host a multiplier event A final meeting will take place in Britain in order to present the final results and disseminate about the project and measure its impact and benefits as expected on the structures : ideally first KA1 VET mobility applications for Britain, Spain and Italy, and a higher percentage of beneficiaries for France and Finland

Final report summary

Health & Safety Plus Agenda 21 Strategic Partnership was to enable schools of similar profiles but different vocational subjects and backgrounds to work together to produce an eLearning course which can be used to improve awareness of Health & Safety issues. The Partners are Redcar & Cleveland College (‘the Beneficiary’), Lycee Professionnel Albert Londres of France (Partner 1’), Seinajoen koulutuskuntayhtyma of Finland (‘Partner 2’), I.I.S “Via Lentini, 78” of Italy (‘Partner 3’). The Beneficiary of the project was introduced to Partner 1 through an existing French-English twinning. Partners 1 and 3 had worked together on two Comenius partnership projects since 2010. The results were educational videos and slideshows. In addition, Partners 1 and 3 had also worked on projects which helped find internships for carpentry students. The Beneficiary and Partner 2 were invited to attend an information meeting about the new Erasmus Plus key action programmes in order to disseminate information about the projects and partnerships initiated by Conseil régional d'Auvergne. It was intended that the first transnational meeting would take place in France in September 2014 to coincide with the School’s 50th anniversary, due to unforeseen circumstances this was not possible and took place a month later in October. During the meeting the Partners discussed the expected results, planned future meetings and distributed tasks. Each of the partner countries hosted a transnational meeting. During the second transnational meeting, held in the UK, it was agreed that each partner would have a theme for their contribution to the eLearning course: UK and Finland - Occupational Health & Safety; France - Environmental Safety; Italy - Wellbeing. There were two main objectives in the project: Firstly, produce an eLearning course on Health & Safety; Secondly, adhering to Agenda 21 objectives of 'Promote health education in schools, information exchange, technical support and training' as stated in the UN Environment Program environment for development. The overall aim is to produce future high quality ECVET mobilities supported by this new preparation material as well as the motivation of employers to receive foreign students for placements by improving their level of understanding on Health & Safety Issues and in the process lowering the barriers to them finding working in other EU countries. Each student received Europass Mobility documents stating the knowledge, skills and competences they have acquired. The aim of the project was to develop various activities involving as many students and staff as possible. We intended to involve local employers and/or structures as silent partners in order to provide a practical view point. The activities as set out in the application were to hold a Health & Safety induction within the college, hold a further Health & Safety induction within industry, complete a first aid course, take part in a fire safety seminar, and a machinery safety awareness course. The students took part in two inductions within the college, one presented by the college staff and one presented by the Construction Industry Training Board (‘CITB’). The students also had the opportunity to attend a local housing development where they were given a further Health & Safety induction and were presented with a formal construction site induction card by the site manager. Within the college surroundings the students took part in a first aid course which was delivered by a college first aider. As part of the college induction the students were briefed on machinery safety. The partners produced an eLearning course, took part in peer-to-peer teaching and safety inductions both with employers and in the colleges. Partner 1 organised a multiplier event in Spain (PIC 949444537) to coincide with an event the Spanish organisation were holding for local carpentry teachers. It was agreed by the French National Agency that the event could be held outside of the country. As part of the exchanges the hosts held health & wellbeing days which took the students away from learning to experience the local culture. The final meeting took place in Finland at which the final results were presented and the information disseminated regarding the project, its impact and the benefits. Overall it was felt that the project was successful and could continue to evolve in the future with further input. Due to the UK's recent decision to leave the European Union it is not yet known if the free movement of workers will remain in place and how European workers will be affected in the future.
