Project summary

For several years, ICTs are used by ecologists associations as an additional support to existing learning methodologies (eg, tablet games, interactive whiteboards, etc.). For example, the Surfrider association uses ICT as information support and awareness for the general public (waste collection aquatic diving broadcast live on a giant screen, etc.). It is now necessary to change the learning methodologies within the school using an innovative and interactive educational device. ICT upset classical learning it is important to integrate them into the educational process and reconcile two problematic. The project aims to build tools and innovative teaching methods to involve children and teachers in order to build a smarter school in a smarter territory. The objectives. Final report summary

We spend our time asking civil actors in society to change the way they live, but without offering them global and stimulating alternatives. We made the assumption that new technologies could contribute to sustainable development within schools. Teachers had to be trained on technological tools and other online applications that were easily transferable to the class and also understandable by the children. A specific training dedicated to NICTs has been conducted by the University of Valencia towards the teaching staff, direction and service staff. Participants were then asked to work with children in project mode. I detect a problem. We try to find a collective answer. We experiment. Children present their projects and results (2 european school exchanges). 13 transferable prototypes or projects have emerged. A teaching guide has been elaborated. A flyer presenting the children's projects is now available. Local communities have implemented some of the children's projects (walking paths, city of Alginet- ES/ water fountains in the school canteen, Livorno -IT / sustainable food....) These projects can be transferred to other schools and territories (My sustainable canteen / QR codes on bins, etc...) Children think, act and develop smart, useful and transferable ideas and projects for the planet and more locally, for their school or town.
