Project summary

It is very important to strengthen the bonds of our new generation students with the school and the education environments to respond to the necessities of the age in terms of the future of education. Besides, it has become inevitable for the schools to adopt innovative education models and reach the level of the countries which want to be successful in terms of maintaining their attractiveness and enabling the continuity of the students. At this point, the integration of technology into education will shape the schools of the future. 'Internet Of Things’ which is defined as a system of devices that have formed a smart net connecting and communicating with each other thanks to a variety of communication protocols. Internet of things is an ecosystem which includes many substructures, more than a process by itself. With the project that we will carry out,we aim to improve the cooperation, safety and reliability of the systems built according to IOT ecosystem, which we believe to improve people’s lives and increase the roles of these systems in the educational process of Informatic Technologies. The project work we will carry out in this area, will serve the increase of sectoral awareness and enlargement of employment areas. It is also inevitable for the schools to follow the technological activities closely and in the future, to reach the level of the countries that want to be successful in terms of maintaining their attractiveness and student attendance by adopting innovative educational models. At this point the integration of young minds to the new software tools will take the competition in the informatics sector and employability up to high a level and thus, it will help to increase vocational and technical training quality. With this project, we plan to increase the competency, qualification and experiences of our teachers and vocational technical education students in practice. In addition, by identifying the differences between what the experienced EU member countries do in this issue and the dimension of the technological infrastructures and the local tools we use, strengthening the infrastructures to develop applications for IOT ecosystem in our country exists as an important goal in the result of our project. Participants of our project will be parts of the developing and changing information world. A total of 50 people with the participation of 5 educators working in project stakeholders , willing to develop applications for IOT infrastructure and open to changes and 5 learners will be taking part in the project actively. In order to actualize this goal, a series of activities will be carried out in our country and in the partner countries. With the project activities, two intellectual outputs will be put forward called IOT DIGI CLASS and IOT DIGI CLASS MODULE. An important step will be taken about intelligent learning environment and teachers, students, parents, administrators and technology coordinators who we can call a learning community, and who are the stakeholders of education, will be a learning model or an educator for each other. With the project work that we are going to make, Fatih project will be carried out by realizing the integration of technology including the parents in the home into the education process, and it will be possible for the parents to take part in the learning process of the students actively. At this point, the chance of a training which integrates or combines school and home through technology to reveal important potentials seem pretty high. IOT Technologies will contribute to bringing a technological quality to education, increasing the communication between teachers, school administration, students and parents, enabling the maximum utilizing of educational materials and continuity of the educational processes in and outside the schools. In addition to this, it will contribute to schools’ being a centre of attractiveness and continuity of education. Finally, our participants will contribute to increase the qualities of vocational and technical education studies and developing its standards, raising qualified staff and helping them to be employed, and also it will contribute to the economy of the country by responding to the expectations of the ccompetitive labor market. Cultural awareness of our participants will increase as a result of the mobility to the partner country. Their foreign languages will be improved and they will be more powerful to reach foreign resources and use them. In addition, with the close monitoring of the studies and technological advances made in the field of informatics, renewal of the education process, reorganization of the curriculum and the increase of the quality and effectiveness of vocational and technical education will be enabled by making disclosures in the eyes of the officials.

Final report summary

The understanding of 21st century educational practice has changed in developed countries to a great extent and the validity of classical teaching methods and techniques has decreased with developing technology. The new generation of teaching methods and techniques has to meet the needs and expectations of our children who are beginning to use technology effectively at an early age. At the point we arrived; the importance of education integration of innovative technologies to reach the EU standards of our educational qualifications is increasing day by day and we are witnessing that new technologies have entered into the education and training environments. Digitizing education and training environments, adapting to the internet of things ecosystem, adapting to new and innovative technologies, increasing the vocational qualifications of educators and raising qualified personnel in the competitive labor market, which are the main objectives of our project have been achieved thanks to our project activities. 2 Transnational Meeting and 5 Learning Training and Teaching Activities were carried out within the project activities. In addition, 1 Multiplier Event Activity was organized. A total of 10 people, 2 of which were project contact person and project technical person from partner institutions, participated in the TM activities. Transnational Meetings: * On 7-8 January 2016, a planning and opening meeting was held in Mersin. * On July 28-29, 2017, negotiations were held in Huelva on the subject of the drafting and reporting. The partners joined with a group of 5 people in each LTT activity. A training activity for a total of 25 people was organized. C1:The First activity of the project was held in Huelva, Spain on May 16-22, 2016, and activities for electronic and mechatronic system design of the project were carried out. Arduino and Raspberry Pi circuit development cards and sensors and applications have been developed in this frame. C3:The second activity of the project was held in Baiao, Portugal on 16-22 May 2016, and the activities related to the communication process of the devices in the IOT infrastructure were carried out. In this framework applications were developed with Arduino and Raspberry Pi circuit development cards and wireless communication modules. C5:The third activity of the project was held in Lugoj, Romania, on October 10-16, 2016, in which activities were carried out for database operations to store data read from the devices in the IOT infrastructure. In this framework, SQL database creation, database access and C # and Entity Framework applications have been developed. C7:The 4th activity of the project was held in Milano, Italy on February 12-19, 2017, and the activities for the web API development for communicating with the databases where the data read out from the devices are kept in the IOT infrastructure were carried out. In this concept web api and json applications were developed with C#. C9:The 5th activity of the project was carried out in Mersin, Turkey between April 26th, and May 2nd, 2017 and activities were carried out on the in-situ application of the class entry / exit module, the school entrance module, the cafeteria module and the library modules in the IOT DigiClass substructure. Arduino and Raspberry Pi circuit development boards and related modules and applications have been developed in this context. IOT DIGI CLASS APPLICATIONS MEETING (E-1) It was held in Mersin Navona Hotel on 24 October 2017 with 150 local participants. Within the scope of our project, two intellectual outputs (O1-O2) were created named IOT DIGI-CLASS and IOT DIGI-CLASS MODULE. IOT DIGI-CLASS: An intelligent education and training environment has emerged with the integration of fields such as electronics, mechatronics, communication, data management and software. IOT DIGI-CLASS performs many functions. - Central Management System - Classroom entrance main control module - Classroom entrance control module - Classroom inside control module - Cafeteria Module - Canteen Module IOT DIGI CLASS MODULE: Within the scope of project activities; a book has been written in which the applications of electronic, mechatronics, software, remote control and database operations are explained in a practical way. The book was translated into Turkish, English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian languages and presented to the project stakeholders. In order to increase the quality of vocational and technical education, the workshop activity within the scope of Multiplier Event contributed to the training of qualified personnel throughout the country. The training program and module have been delivered to all over the country via cargo, social media and website www.iotdigiclass.com. Activities carried out during the Activities carried out during the project were shared on the project website, social media groups, partners' websites and other related web sites, and they were updated to ensure sustainability.
