Project summary

The idea of "CT World - Imaging, Coding,Transforming and Modelling the World around us" aims to involve students in creating situations of their real life by using different software tools to image, visualise, model or code situations of real life. These tools imply media competence, they are challenging and deepen insights in basic as well as advanced computational thinking, coding and ICT. The whole project that we would like to run is based on innovative approaches of the use of ICT as it is used nowadays in everyday life. We will develop materials, that help to understand basic concepts and at the same time involve students and make them familiar - as early as possible in their life - with intelligent use of New Technologies that will become much more important in their future professional and private life than today. Our methodology is based on innovative methods, e.g. to offer open problems, which foster creativity, logical, mathematical thinking and problem solving, and which are cooperative, student-centred and start from real life. Applications with these software tools will be developed for use in different subjects, e.g. in STEM or economic, geography lessons in order to explain, visualise and show complex reality. We have chosen partners who are experienced in at least two of these software tools and its use in different subjects and are highly interested in exchanging classroom ideas, trying them out and evaluating them in order to develop these ideas further. All partners have different competences and individual teaching practice in only a few tools for imaging like GIMP, GEOGEBRA, SKETCHUP or use 3D printers for drafted 3D objects on a computer, SCRATCH and Scratch4Arduino for coding or Smart home, working with LEGO or data analysis with tools like GAPMINDER. We intend to broaden our knowledge and experience in ALL tools among staff, who teach students at the age between 12 and 15 as well as among students who participate in the project. The most important aim of this project is to improve students' competencies in the use of ICT, their social competence and coding skills. These are skills that are important for their future life and professional career. To attain this objectives teachers and students as well will draft and solve challenging tasks, work on small projects, on online courses, in competitions and workshops that are mostly done by students. They will work together in INTERNATIONAL TEAMS´during the meetings as well as in periods in between the meetings that we like to have in all partnering schools. This work will be supported by using a well-structured twinspace on the eTwinning platform for communication and collaboration as well for documentation of examples of best practice. Of course we also will use other tools for cooperation like they are used for international professional work internationally.During the meetings all partnering schools will prepare workshops to "teach" students and teachers how to use different software tools to create reflections of real life. The topics of such projects are often cross-curricular e.g. digital video analysis to optimize movements in sports or showing correlations between social phenomena. Some projects results may be taught by our Erasmus students to students of other courses and may enable them to use specific software tools in their lessons, other products may be added to the curricula of different subjects. One partnering school, Pestalozzi Gymnasium in Germany, belongs to a network of UNESCO schools and tries to implement the principles of UNESCO in lessons, activities and students’ minds and of the whole school community. Getting to know places of UNESCO world heritage, creating images of it, discovering art as an expression of cultural variety or to address topics of data privacy can be easily implemented in our project and can make a lot of important links to all schools in the project and beyond it.As the project is documented by students and teachers on the internet all interested parties outside the project can participate and use the materials that will be developed during the project.

Final report summary

With ICT World an enormous team of willful teachers and students from Spain, Germany, France, Latvia, Czech. Rep and Finland have worked together side by side to try to image real life with software tools like GIMP, GEOGEBRA or SKETCHUP and to code and transform situations by using SCRATCH and ARDUINO. These materials are drafted student-centred and facilitate also cooperative work offering different paths through the learning topics. Tasks are also tested by already experienced students in all the countries. Apart of the mentioned software we have worked other as Freecad, TinkerCad, Cura, Appinventor, Herramientas de google, Mblock, herramientas 2.0, visualino, bitblock,... The general concept of ICT World is easy. The whole international team visit two of the six countries twice a year. In every meeting we have: transnational meeting to organize and plan the next meeting, the teaching training activities and to set every single detail of every between meetings activities that we call Work in International Teams. teaching/training activities: where the hosting institution organize several workshops on the ICT tools they are experimented in. in the meantime we interchange skilled students in a particular ICT tool in long-term mobility that will cope for a period of three months with the hosting institution to help to deal with other software. we devote our twinspace as the mirror where to reflect all the productions and methodologies carried out. Under this format we have achieved interesting collaborative productions which have been worthy of awards and recognition. At the same time, we have had good time and enriched ourselves with the knowledge of six top institutions.
