112 : What can I do for you ?This project started with a simple question : What can you do while you are waiting for an ambulance? How long does it take for the emergency services to arrive depending your geographic position ?Are the chances of survival in case of a life-threatening distress the same according to where you live ( in a country side, in a big town, in a capital city) ? How is the geographical breakdown of the emergency services laid out in European Countries ? Is there a real connection between them ? What are the different missions of these emergency services professionnals ? Is there a standardEeuropean curriculum for first aid training ? Is a training for the population or school children provided by the different countries in Europe. What about 112, the European emergency services number. Does it work everywhere ? Are there white areas ? Our project, will last 3 years, and will affect 5 schools (3 in rural areas and 2 in urban areas), from different European countries : FRANCE (coordonnator), ROUMANIE (co-coordonnator),CZECH REPUBLIC, POLAND and SPAIN. About 40 students will be enrolled in this project and they will be between 11 and 15. Thanks to this project we would like our pupils to learn to know other countries, other cultures but also :- to improve their knowledge of the first aid techniques, - to take their learning into their own hands, by developping new skills and reinforce those linked to the use of ICT (Powerpoint, Prezi, Padlet, video editing, communication softwares, ...), - to become aware of the need to be able to speak at least one foreign langage in order to exchange and communicate hoping this will have a immediat effect in their foreign langage classes. - to become more open-minding so they acquire a new awareness that of not only being citizen of their own country but also a European citizen. For the teachers : - to learn from our exchanges, - to compare our experiences and different ways of teaching - to improve our linguistic skills, - to find new sources of motivation to facilitate our students' learning process, - to enable our schools to open up more to Europe. Activities scheduled : We will- release ballons in the colour of Europe to celebrate the start of the project- create a website in which we will put all the productions of the students and this website will go on being use even after the end of the project.- start a competition to find a name and a logo for the project and we will print this on business cards and tee shirts.- create a song, each country will write a verse in its langage, and the chorus will be in English. This song will be sung everytime the countries meet.- create posters with slogans and drawings made by the pupils as well as videos clips in English subtitled in the differents tongues used by the collaborating countries, so the populations will be made aware of the different first aid techniques.- print flyers explaining what you should do when you hike or when you are on the beach. These flyers will be on free access in tourist offices, collaborating associations, in townhalls,...- create video dictionnaries to help families welcome our pupils- visit emergency services centers, emergency calling centers and rescue helicopters bases.- organise cultural and sport activities to reinforce the bounds between the differents partners.- produce teaching tools that everyone will be able to use3 transnational meetings : 1. 112 : Can I help you ? This project was initiated within the framework of the European Erasmus + program for a duration of 3 years. It brings together 5 partner colleges in France (coordinator), Romania (co-coordinator), Spain, Poland and the Czech Republic. The common language is English. The project is based on number 112, the European emergency number. The aim is to promote the actions of first aid and to encourage as many people as possible to train in simple actions that can save lives while waiting for help to arrive. It is, in a way, the first link in a chain of rescue; 1st essential link because it conditions the action of professionals. Through this action, we want our young students to become committed and responsible European citizens. We launched the project by releasing balloons in each country. With each of the mobilities proposed (one in each country), we discovered various specialties of rescue (rescue at sea, in mountain (summer / winter), avalanche rescue dogs, helicopter hoisting, extrication exercises, ...) and we designed posters and made videos related to various distresses (choking, bleeding, cardiac arrest, burns, ...) and learned first aid skills. Each poster, designed for a traveling exhibition, presents you a vital distress and asks you what you would do when facing that situation and if you do not know what to do, we encourage you to think of taking a first aid training. So as not to leave you in the dark, you can using your phone, scan a QR code that sends you directly to the video that explains what to do; video shot and edited by the students, in English and subtitled in the 5 langages the partners countries. Thus you can reinforce your sense of European belonging by becoming a committed and responsible citizen. So do not hesitate, look at our videos and train yourself to help!
