Project summary

Nowadays, better understanding of recent environmental events and different awareness campaigns witness the urgent character of the ecological situation: global warming and its aftermath, environmental accidents, increased frequency of pics of pollution, extinction of species and biodiversity, impact on public health, social and economic consequences, etc. Therefore, education about environment from now on should be completed by the research of effective systems of sustainable development which is the basis of conservation of the environment. It is a question of encouraging the development of eco-friendly and eco-responsible behaviour. In this particular context social and territorial solidarity are primordial. This project is based on innovation, experimental work and transfer of experience. One of the objectives of this project is to foster eco-responsibility of citizens. Our action is built on a practical hands-on approach in order to help the young to develop a sense of responsibility for the choices they make in the personal life and their social context. This project involves three schools and more than 84 students aged 16-17 of all the sectors of studies from Italy, Croatia and France who are willing to work on a common European project. This mix of students should put forward the specific skills developed in each sector in order to bring to light the complementarity and open up the sectors. Certain students are not aware of the environmental reality, as they grew up in a countryside, away from the urban context. What’s more, some of other students are in a difficult social and economic situation and miss enthusiasm. Thanks to this project we would like to use cross-disciplinary approach, which will give meaning to what students learn, emphasizing group work and interactions making students actors of their learning by building their own project. We think that both virtual and physical contact throughout the school year to work around 4 workshops is important. To achieve the objectives of the project we propose 4 workshops:Workshop 1: Understanding the stakesWorkshop 2: Observation of what is happening on my territoryWorkshop 3: Acting as an eco-responsible and eco-friendly citizenWorkshop 4: I raise awareness, I mobilise and I convinceThe objective of our strategic partnership is to form scientific and prospective steps which will allow to each citizen make their choices and take responsibilities based on clear and perceptive thinking. It should also bring students to think about values, to wake individual and collective awareness, to make them aware of the importance of intergenerational transmission. The objective of this project is to promote the awakening of a eco-citizen awareness by giving students a common base of knowledge. Thanks to the projects we want to provide understanding grid to decrypt the social issues and constitute a philosophy of life allowing everyone to make informed choices. As eco-citizen well informed, thoughtful and responsible, students can play an effective role in the classroom and outside the classroom; local, national and European level. Enter sustainable development through social issues is a good way to communicate too long compartmentalised disciplines. The goal is to make the scientific approach to the service of eco-citizen. The educational team must modernize teaching practices and provide educational resources that mobilize new active and practical approaches rooted in the digital age.

The project allowed students to take ownership of the issues of sustainable development and propose concrete actions to preserve the environment and initiate a lasting change in behavior. For eco-gestures to become reflexes, it is still necessary that all high school students understand the issues of sustainable development and acquire the skills and knowledge both transversal and scientific related to it. It was the ambition of Workshop 1, I want to understand the issues. As part of Workshop 2, the students went in search of good experiences and met with local actors of sustainable development, these positive experiences were put end to end in the frame of reports to show that the development sustainable development is everyone's business and that the main principles can be applied in our territories and that we have gathered a good number of positive experiences to disseminate to inspire a maximum of people. Beyond the awareness, it is now to promote the development of eco-friendly family or eco-responsible behaviors within our institutions. In workshop 3, students were asked to become individually and collectively involved in concrete action with their families, high school and / or at their city / village / neighborhood level to respond to sustainable development issues. To participate in the emergence of such initiatives, the teaching team has favored educational resources that mobilize new active and practical approaches rooted in the digital age. The students carried out actions to make known and recognize their actions to change behavior. As ambassadors, they had to raise awareness, inform and convince the maximum number of students, parents, teachers and local actors (local elected representatives, local populations, local businesses, associations ....) ..... to adopt eco-friendly gestures. The priority of this strategic project was to develop a scientific and prospective approach, allowing each citizen to make his choices and his commitments by supporting them with a lucid and enlightened reflection.
