This Erasmus Plus Project entitled «the European Coloured Pencils. Draw Me One Europe. " was born after the terrorist attacks of January, 2015 and the various European crises which are challenging the construction and the identity of Europe. How to favor, then, in our pupils, the feeling of belonging to a European community, and facilitate a commitment to the defense of its values? We have three objectives:1) Teaching about cultural diversity to fight against identitarian closure and prejudices, through the elaboration of a treasure hunt to be carried out by each partner country so as to share their local and why not national culture.2) Sharing and upholding the common values of democracy, tolerance and respect. Every country chooses a value and a way to radiate with the partner countries : for example by writing a “Loving Dictionary of the European Values”, by making videos which will be combined in an educational movie or by organizing a seminar around the European humanist values.3) Engaging in a collaborative project to strengthen the feeling of European belonging by creating a European Council of the High school Students and by producing a European News Bulletin (civic commitment), by conceiving a Virtual Museum (cultural commitment), by telling all about one day in the life of an eco-responsible high school student ( environmental commitment). During the meetings and the mobilities, every country is to contribute to the final creation of a tree of life, a symbol for this project. The completion of this Project has to be based on regular and innovative exchanges between the countries involved (creation of a Web site “EuroPens”, use of the e-twinning platform and creation of digital applications). Working together with municipalities, museums, schools of art and leading figures favors the opening of school onto the world. The expected results concern the pupils, the teachers and the territories where the partner high schools are located. The pupils benefit from a rich program which allows them to better live their European identity (knowledge, exchanges and sociability, renewed motivation, desire for mobility). The teachers discover other European education systems, other ways of teaching, new knowledge which they can reinvest in their practices. The Project addresses a wide ethnic, cultural and social variety of pupils, coming from five different schools (Cyprus, Estonia, France, Italy, Portugal) having already participated for the greater part in international actions. This Project, planned over three years, concerns pupils of about 15 or 16. Some of them are in educational difficulties, even dropping out of school and are sometimes lacking motivation, curiosity and interest for school. Although benefiting from different trainings (general, technological and professional) the pupils are to work together on the activities of the Project by implementing their complementary skills. Favoring cultural footbridges between our European regions (Northern Europe, Mediterranean Europe, Occidental Europe) will allow to fight against identitarian closure and favor the opening out to others. Furthermore, these experiences will enrich the participants who will thus be more creative and more innovative throughout their life-course.This project is to contribute to the existence of a Europe which strengthens its humanist values, a Europe in which all our young high school students will have a role to play, a Europe to be drawn...
This three-year Erasmus+ Project, entitled “European Colour Pencils. Draw me A Europe.” was born following the terrorist attacks of January 2015 and the various European crises that challenge European identity and construction. The question then was: how to promote the sense of belonging of our students to our European community, by defending its values and committing to it? Our objectives were threefold : 1) Develop a diversity education to combat identity withdrawal and prejudice through the development of a game of trails at the level of each partner country to share its local and national culture. 2) Share and live out common values of democracy, tolerance and respect. Each country has chosen a value and defended it with the other partner countries by carrying out different activities: writing a Dictionary of European values lovers, making videos on the fight against discrimination, the organization of three colloquia (in France on equality, in Italy on freedom and in Portugal on tolerance). 3) Engage in a collaborative project to strengthen the sense of European belonging by establishing a European Council of High School Students and by getting involved in associative actions (citizen engagement), by recounting the day of an eco-responsible high school student (environmental engagement), by designing a virtual museum (cultural engagement). In addition, each country contributed to the final realization of trees of life, symbols of the project. The implementation of this project was based on regular and innovative exchanges between the countries involved (creation of a website «europens.fr», use of digital applications). Collaboration with various stakeholders (municipalities, museums, art schools, personalities) has helped open the school to the world. The expected results were for the pupils, teachers and territories in which the partner schools were located. Pupils aged 15 to 18 years of age from five schools (Cyprus, Estonia, France, Italy, Portugal) with a wide range of social, ethnic and cultural diversity are trained in different ways (general, technological and vocational). Some, who had difficulty with school, often lacked motivation, curiosity and interest in the school. All have benefited from a rich programme which has enabled them to live their European identity better (knowledge, exchange and sociability, renewed motivation, desire for mobility) by participating in various activities. These contacts have fostered cultural bridges between European regions (Northern Europe, Mediterranean Europe, Western Europe), and have made it possible to move away from a sense of identity and to improve openness to each other. This project has contributed to the existence of a Europe that reinforces its humanistic values, a Europe in which our young students have a role to play, a Europe that they have begun to draw....
