Project summary

The project comes from the need to professionalize the work of youth workers active in youth structures born from the recovery of public spaces abandoned by introducing the European dimension in their work and the sharing of good practices. The project aims to create a network of organizations working in public spaces stimulating them to participate in international mobility projects . "Re-Generation" also aims to give opportunities to youth groups already active at the local level, to experience practice, other than those activated in their own country, through participation in training courses at the local leve and in international activity in which to compare with peers and start common projects. The project includes two project meetings between partners (kick-off and evaluation, to be held respectively in Italy and Poland); a training course for youth leaders to which will attend 12 youth workers and 4 national coordinators; a series of four educational mobility of youth workers at youth facilities in the 4 partner countries; local activities with young people to ensure the multiplier effect and a blended mobility that will involve 24 young participants (the same onvolved in local actions, 2 per country), 3 youth workers and a coordinator for each country. The project involves youth workers and young people from four participating countries (Italy, France, Spain and Poland) in order to allow them to know the reality of the partner countries and to initiate a process of integration between the youth policies in the framework of Erasmus + and the variety of youth groups active in public spaces abandoned and returned to the community for creative use and combination.Through the mobility of youth workers and blended mobility, thanks to the meeting between the various stakeholders, the project aims to increase the volume of mobility, the level of active participation of young people, the revitalization of the community from re-use of abandoned spaces. The project will have a total duration of 18 months and will use methods of non-formal.The project will produce a website with an interactive map of public spaces youth in 4 countries and a manual of good practices.

Final report summary

The basic idea of the project was to promote the opportunities offered by the Erasmus + programme with the dual objectives of increasing the volume of youth motilities and introducing elements of internationalization within the youth realities active in the territories involved in the project, with particular attention to the issue of the re-use of abandoned spaces reconverted into cultural and social activities. The goal of creating networks of organizations with little or no international experience has been achieved thanks to the mobility of youth workers and the exchange of experiences and best practices. These mobilities enabled participants to acquire skills and contacts that were then transferred to groups of young people within organizations at local level. A virtuous mechanism was thus activated and ended with the creation of the blended mobilities with a final meeting during which various project proposals for the future were synthesized and elaborated. The other activities carried out, as envisaged by the programme, were a kick-off meeting held in Italy among the coordinators of the 4 countries, a first training meeting with representatives of satellite organizations in order to clarify the objectives of the project and to implement the mobility of youth workers, as well as dissemination and multiplication activities with young people further. All activities were carried out coherently with the initial project and the interest aroused by the topic exceeded the initial expectations. The results achieved concern the products produced during the project (a report and a map) as well as a series of initiatives generated by the process activated with the project. Many of the young people involved in the project participated for the first time, in the summer of 2018, in youth exchanges, some started for short or long-term European voluntary service projects, many gained significant experience to the point of leading them to become group leader. The most important result is represented by a network of personal and professional relationships that has generated - and we are sure that it will continue to do so in the coming months. Many professional collaborations were born and, as an example, a Spanish participant made an Erasmus Young Entrepreneurs project in Italy, or a former Link volunteer got a job offer after the end of his volunteer project. We could do many other examples, but in general we can say with certainty that the project has achieved the expected results. The impact at the local level is equally significant: many of the structures started on work on projects for young people, others have strengthened collaboration with the coordination organizations (here too, as an example, Entrez-là periodically organizes activities aimed at young people in collaboration with Intercultura). The project made it possible to relaunch active participation in many contexts and stimulated interest in the European dimension, allowing young people to broaden their horizons and approach for the first time on the themes of diversity and intercultural learning, with an impact that it is already visible in the short term but that, it is easy to foresee, will have a long and lasting wave over time.
