Project summary

The project is called "Fluency in water 2016". It is the second version of a project written in 2014 and approved but not realized because of "lack of fund". All the participating countries have water borders so the theme came up naturally: we decided to study/analyze water in various aspects in order to find out similarities and/or differences in each of the 3 participating countries: Holland, Turkey and Bulgaria. The main objectives are: to internationalise each school giving it the sense of belonging in the European Union as equal; to give the students and the staff involved a broader understanding of the importance and use of water nowadays ; to develop a sense of civil duty regarding the use of water and the consequences in the future; to improve the ICT skills of both students and teachers; to increase the motivation to develop the learning of foreign languages, especially English; to give the students knowledge that will allow them to better prepare their future careers especially in fields that connected to water; The aim is to investigate "water" and become fluent both in the subject and in the English language. In each participating school, at least one class (students aged 13-17) will carry out studies, activities, visits, research, etc, about the main topics. With or without water (water management); Healthy water? (water and environment): What do you know about water in Europe? knowledge); Work With Water (Career guidance; visiting companies); Water amusement and Fluency in Water mix (music and words. These topics will be handled by the subjects involved in each of them in the classrooms and at the end of each exchange an output will be produced, based on the works carried out by the students in each subject. (Annex0Both before and during the exchanges, activities regarding enterprises that have to do with water will be prepared and take place. The development of these activities and the outcomes of the study of the theme and its main topics will be made public in a twin Space (eTwinning), through an ejournal, a blog, a webpage and publication of articles in regional and local newspapers and if possible also the broadcasting of news on local radio stations. By disseminating the results it will have a local, regional and international impact. With this project, we hope our students will not only learn about water but also raise civic awareness. We hope they will make friends in other countries and improve their English while learning words in other languages and having contact with other realities. We think they will develop their ICT skills by sharing experiences, using Etwinning, the ejournal, the internet, and other programmes like Prezi and apps like Nearpod. We also hope their future career aspirations will be facilitated by learning about jobs in the field of water and those job's descriptions. Thinking long term, this project will bring benefits to all the students, their parents, their teachers and the school staff involved both in knowledge and experience at personal, academic and professional levels. The results will also be public since they will all be published on youtube, in the Twin pace, the webpage and the blog of the project. The ejournal will also be available for public viewing. The Erasmus+ corner in each participating school will also be a reminder to the future generations of students and school staff of the work developed in this project and hopefully it will educate them as well.
