FOUR STEP for EMPLOYMENT project is a cooperation project in EU scale on employment policies and orientation of the unemployed, carried out jointly by Turkey, United Kingdom, Spain, Hungry and Portugal. This project will inquire qualified work force on the supply side and analyze vocational training and professional qualifications in EU scale. Employment policies will be analyzed through activities to be carried out under 4 main topics and the data to be compiled will be disseminated to individuals at all levels and groups through the web page. I- Analyzing the relationship between vocational training and employment: Vocational training, helping individuals to acquire knowledge, skills and behaviors regarding a specific profession, improving personal skills of the individual and helping him/her to gain social and economic strength is indispensable for any country. In today’s world of fierce competition, main expectations from schools delivering vocational training are considering their students and graduates as valuable assets generated by these schools, educating their students with curricula that is compatible with the expectations of the industry, and supporting them following graduation during job seeking process and actual working life. Consequently the basic objective of vocational training is to meet qualified work force requirements of the business world. Activities planned under this project will serve the purpose of ensuring continuous interaction of vocational training schools with the labor market and directing vocational training in line with the demands of the labor market with a view to accelerating harmonization with employment policies of the European Union. For this purpose, expectations of the business world from vocational training in partner countries will be identified, professional qualifications in three designated careers (machinery, textile, computer technologies) will be compared, criteria for career orientation and measurement tools will be reviewed and innovative perspective will be developed for new professions.2--Business set up processes and personal networking: The purpose of vocational training is not only helping individuals to acquire professional knowledge, skills and personal traits that are required in the labor market and to be recruited by an enterprise as a salary earner but also helping them to acquire entrepreneurship skills and traits to be used by the individual to become an employer. Providing the market with qualified work force alone will be meaningless if entrepreneurs do not generate new areas for employment by making investments. Professionals with high entrepreneurship skills, who are capable of starting up their own businesses are in need throughout the world. Contacting business sectors and related individuals through the internet is very important nowadays. Partner countries will prepare lecture notes and books to serve this purpose. Documents will be prepared on personal networking. Furthermore, an entrepreneurship book will be prepared in audio book format for the visually impaired and made available to access by disadvantaged groups.3--Business organization and orientation processes: The purpose of training is to help individuals to adapt to the working environment in order to reveal their potential and to be effective and productive. Until now, individuals skilled enough to perform duties assigned to them through defined methodologies were used to be called „qualified employees“, however in today’s global world, qualifications expected from a qualified employee include assuming responsibility, innovative thinking, adaptation to change, problem solving, good communication skills, group work, cooperativeness and a quick grasp of complex technological systems. Main purpose of formal vocational training is to train individuals that are fit for global competition, who will be an asset for their employer giving him a competitive edge. 4-Employment policies: Employment oriented studies in partner countries on the basis of their basic political strategies will be reviewed. Employment policies will be reviewed from the perspective of connections between employment agencies and active work force, the business world and the unemployed. Additionally each partner will organize a panel on the importance of employment and expectations of the business world from vocational training sector. The web page to be prepared by the project will be available for access by everyone. All documents will be made available to download free of charge. Reports and other deliverables to be prepared by the project will be delivered to relevant institutions (vocational training institutions, ministries of education, institutions providing lifelong learning services, Professional Qualification Agencies, professional chambers). Enterprise Europe will be used as an effective tool to this end. The project is expected to impact 8000 individuals directly or indirectly.
