The aim of this project is to improve the English skills of students using different methods of art form in conjunction with the use of computer technology. This way the learning can be more enjoyable than the usual grammar based lesson format. Also at the same time students will be able to learn some new skills with the use of digital technology and available software programmes. The idea of this project came from a suggestion about using drama to teach and then was placed on the e-twinning platform and then a focus was made on the states that had previous experience with similar projects. The overall number of schools to involved is to be five, with all of them having different cultural backgrounds to make the project as varied as possible. Although there has to be some common ground with the schools and this being, having at least one foreign language taught at school and being keen on dealing with extra curriculum topics and unusual teaching methods. Another requirement was the similar range of age of students. The target group of students are elementary or secondary school pupils who are aged from 11 - 17 years old. The scope of the age is ideal for the introduction of innovative teaching methods. At present most of the students have mastered the basic skills like reading and writing and gained background knowledge in various subjects. Moreover the project would like to allow the students to further use their emotions, rhetorical skills, technical skills and theoretical knowledge in order to show their talents and strengthen their characters by using different forms of innovative activities. The project will make use of traditional and innovative methodological approaches, which will take place in workshops during and before the learning meetings. All of the meetings will involve a large amount of pair and group work. Here the students will have to take culturological, humanistic and communicative approaches to solve problems and make use of various interactive activities provided by the IT equipment at schools. The plan is to move to between five different countries and participate in a set of pre-planned activities. Each activity would be started three to four months before the planned meetings where they can all be finalised. During these meetings each of the participating countries would show their work which has already been carried out. It is also planned to video log all of these work meetings so that a final film can be available to all of the parties involved in the project. The plans for the meetings are as follows; • to create a town guide making the use of computers to make printable and virtual reality maps using existing computer software. • to write and act a play to show a town’s history and its cultural sights. This would then be videoed to show to all members of the project. • to make an e-book showing past cultural employment in the areas of the project members. • to create a video of a fashion show about cultural clothing and music from the different areas. • to create digital storyboards that can be printed and collated to make a multilingual book for use in the schools. In conclusion all the different activities to be carried out in this project would hopefully prove to students that learning does not have to mundane and boring. Also they would be able to use the skills learnt to create videos and books that can be used in the future by other people.
