Project summary

For this project four primary schools from Germany, Slovenia, Greece and Sweden have joined together. By carrying through this European Erasmus Programm it is our intention and wish to mutually create new impulses for the educational and cultural processes and through actual co-existence enhance more harmonious, attractive and interesting classroom atmospheres and lessons. This project will give schools the opportunity to do justice to their extended role as a school within Europe by means of working out and carrying through comparisons and common strategies in the field of: „Integration/Inclusion---Posing Problems and Finding Solutions“ with other European Schools. The working language will be mainly English; thus children learn at first hand the importance of learning a second language and how useful that will be for the future. In all four phases of this project a short film will be produced by the participants with relevant and authoritative results about their own country. This short film will be shown during the AULs. Additionally at each of these meetings a joint film will be produced consolidating the respective subject which consequently will be edited with computerbased software and also presented. • Phase 1: The subject: „Problems in the field of Integration /Inclusion will be researched and filmed. • Phase 2: The subject: „ Rash Judgements and Prejudices/Bias“ will be discussed and filmed. • Phase 3: The subject: „Possibilities of Integration, Wishes, and Ideals“ will be researched and filmed. • Phase 4: The subject of „Possible Solutions“ will be looked at and filmed. A handbook will be produced documenting the problems and possible solutions of Integration/Inclusion and the considered outcome of all four phases. Apart from that it will also be recorded how digital medias (PC, cameras) and applied software had been effectively made use of. All films and the handbook are intended to give information about relevant problems and their solutions. They will be applicable in each country in future concerning the subject of Integration/Inclusion in local or neighbouring schools. Additionally, sustainability is ensured through its inclusion into the core curiculum of each individual school. The participants should be made aware of the difference in culture and ideology of each country. They are meant to learn that their own cultural and ideological background has no universal bearings, that various points of views and ways of behaviour exist and that getting to know other cultures is enriching despite some difficultues that may be encountered. The same applies to working with persons with special needs. This project is supposed to widen the awareness of participants towards the requirements and abilities of people with special needs. Furthermore the participants are supposed to find the best possible ways and strategies of integration. The participants will learn to recognise problems of Integration/Inclusion, to provide solution strategies and to apply these in a sustainable way to their respective local schools. They will transport their own culture into other countries in order to report about themselves and their culture in an appropriate way. By travelling to foreign countries and by means of presenting and explaning their films the participants themselves will gain self-confidence. They will become more courageous and it will strenghten their trust in the unknown and empower these participants to be interested in future in international projects of this kind.

Final report summary

Four elementary schools from Germany, Slovenia, Greece and Sweden have joined forces to form the project "Europe Films Europe: Integration / Inclusion". During each of the four project phases, a short film was shot by the participants on the project-relevant results in their own country, which was presented during the AULs. At each meeting, a joint film was shot in detail on the subject, edited with computer-controlled software and also presented. In the first phase, the topic "problems in the field of integration / inclusion" was researched and filmed. In the second phase, the topic "hasty judgments and prejudices" was worked on and filmed. In the third phase the topic "Integration possibilities, wishes and ideals" was researched and filmed. In the 4th phase the topic "solution possibilities" was researched and filmed. Participants: 6 students and 3 teachers / country Based on the findings of all four phases, a handbook was produced in which the problems identified and their solution options for integration / inclusion were documented. In addition, it was noted how the digital media (PC, cameras) used and the processing software programs are used properly. In addition to the AULs, 3 transnational project meetings were held: 1. a preparatory meeting in the beginning in DE 2. a meeting in the middle of the project in SLO 3. a follow-up meeting with evaluation in GR Participants: 3 teachers / country The participants have become aware of the different culture and ideology. They have learned that their own understanding of culture and belief is not universal, that there are different views and behaviors, and that getting to know other cultures (besides all difficulties) can be rewarding! This also applies to dealing with people with special needs. Through the project, the participants have received an expanded view of the needs and abilities of the people of this group and developed ways to integrate them as best as possible. The participants have learned to recognize problems of integration / inclusion, to have solution strategies and to apply them sustainably. They have carried their own culture to other countries to report about themselves and their culture in an appropriate manner. Traveling to foreign countries, presenting, explaining films, and working together in international groups made the students much more confident. In addition, the participants have learned the need to learn other languages, especially English. They have strengthened their confidence and confidence in the unknown, have become bolder and are now interested in getting involved in future international projects.
