Project summary

Experience Europe together – study connecting foreign languages together – develop one’s own learning ideas and practising them with the help of modern media – this basic idea led us to our common project design/draft. Participants should be introduced together into the digital world of learning media while producing podcasts, videos and suitable learning materials themselves. Interested pupils will have access to the English language as well as the German language in a different, varied and exciting way. The importance and use of a foreign language can reduce the inhibition level outside the classroom and strengthen the students’ interest in the English language. Within appropriate project meetings selected topics like „Youth in Europe“ will be dealt with. This goes along with the development of video and audio podcasts about interviews on the street with Italian immigrants in Germany or conversations with important people around school or politicians, the mayor of Nuremberg etc. Further project issues: Possible topic selection: How does the Internet change our daily life? How do young people use the liberty in the EU? How wand why is the use of the media changing? Emigration into another EU-country? What are the dangers, what are the chances? What do young people expect the EU to do and what are their wishes? Which qualifications do German and Italian companies expect future applicants to have? Does school prepare students sufficiently for vocational training? What should be changed? German people in Italy/Italian people in Germany – Experience reports Cultural similarities/special characteristics/differences … While coming into being/During the creation of these podcasts special emphasis will be put on the different language skills. The podcasts will be created with a different and special emphasis on language, the recordings and videos will be finished off by different groups of students. Technical skills in working out audio and video files are also taught in order to show the students the importance of the digital world of learning and working. Besides the visits student groups are expected to produce videos and learning materials on the basis of podcasts like gap texts, worksheets, vocabulary practice exercises. These will be posted on an Internet site for a longer period of time. The mutual visits should offer the students the opportunity to find time for exchanging their experience, to find out where the similarities and differences are. We are looking for a long-term cooperation with a partner school and are looking forward to a long-lasting friendship.
