he QiWuD project is embedded in the context of the courses business in German and German, with the aim of introducing quality development in both subjects in order to provide action-oriented and intertwined teaching as the basis for the development of learning sequences. A guide for the integration of pupils with a non-German-speaking background into Estonian and German companies will be used to complete the aims of the business course. The most important result is the guide to be developed, which can be used not only within the project but also across the EU as well as the teaching sequences developed for the implementation. The vocational traineeships at the course business in German will be completed and the demands made transparent. Action-oriented teaching sequences are coordinated methodically and didactically with German lessons. In the course of the previous project, BBS Syke has formed a core group of economics, mathematics, German and foreign language teachers who will bring their experience into this project. In the KSG, German and business colleagues as well as a master's degree student with a Bachelor in Business are involved. Approximately 100 people will benefit from the project. The project is based on two outputs. The main focus is on the development / adoption of quality criteria, which are in turn derived from learned and tested learning situations. The second output is an internship guide for companies in Estonia and Germany, which transparently regulates requirements for the internship in the Fachfach. From the observations and discussions with the trainees and their contacts in the company, a guideline is prepared in two stages, first Germany and then in Estonia. In the course of the joint project weeks, the restructuring of the teaching units on the basis of internships and the preparation of the guidelines for the internships are carried out in a structured manner using work packages. Three transnational project meetings are planned. 1. The first at the beginning in Estonia to discuss and prepare the project. 2. A further meeting is to be carried out at the half-time stage of the project in Germany to determine whether the project should be carried out as intended and whether and if so which adjustments have to be carried out. 3. A third meeting is scheduled at the end of the project period to evaluate, adapt, determine and disseminate the project and its results. The transnational meetings are held by members of the school management and take place simultaneously to the regular project meetings. The most important effect of the project is on the quality development of the course Business in German for non-German schools, which is exemplarily developed by KSG. At the school level, both schools make further experiences of how a foreign language is linked to vocational education in secondary education. The guideline developed for this purpose not only helps the companies involved in the project but also other companies which are faced with similar situations. At the European level there is the possibility that these students can be active as German-speaking office workers/clerks anywhere in Europe or even in the world. The guide and instruction sequences can be used internationally. The integration of refugees and improved labor market opportunities is an added benefit. The results are prepared, documented, evaluated and made available for dissemination in the pre-structured project weeks in predefined modules. The project managers on both sides ensure that the project weeks are designed accordingly and the results are available as a product of the project weeks. These can be used by schools, businesses and other interested stakeholders.-
The project Quality Development in Business and German Lessons was a win for both partner schools. It provided a vehicle for the colleagues of the KSG to learn didactic principles in the instruction in the 10th – 12th grade business lessons. Colleagues of the BBS were given the opportunity to learn and combine the principles of business didactics and foreign language didactics. Goals and results of the project were: 1. To introduce quality development in the subjects Business and German: - For this purpose, three (3) action-oriented lesson plans were developed by the colleagues of both schools. They are being taught at the KSG and partially being taught at the BBS. 2. Development of an information booklet that can be used for the placement of pupils with non-German-speaking backgrounds in companies: - The guide has been created, applied, evaluated and improved. 3. The institutionalization of the internships in the profile subject Business in German: - In both 2018 and 2019 internships were conducted in Estonia and Germany 4. Implementation of the Didactic Wizard helped to increase the transparency/ clarity of the learning content in the profile subject Business and identify numerous points of contact between German and the profile subject. - In the Didactic Wizard Online (DWO), the course distribution in Business, as well as the course distribution in German were juxtaposed and points of contact of the subjects to support the Business education, which may be included in the curriculum of the KSG. In total, 8 colleagues from the KSG (Business and German) and 10 colleagues from the BBS (Business, German and English (EFL) from both in the vocational school as well as the Gymnasium) contributed to the project. The project participants from both institutions represent a wide range of hierarchical levels. Furthermore, 12 students (profile subject Business) of the KSG had the opportunity to do a work placement in companies in Germany. Also 15 students of the KSG were able to do a work placement in Estonian companies. The following activities were carried out 1. There have been several weeks of training for teachers and senior staff for teaching and teaching purposes - development of the action-oriented lesson plans, the internship guide, implementation of the Didactic Wizard as well as identifying points of contact in the subjects German and Business. 2. Two transnational project meetings were held to evaluate, plan and continue the project. The third planned transnational project meeting was linked to a training week. 3. Internships were organized twice in Germany and twice in Estonia. In the first two rounds, surveys were conducted at the companies to provide clues to companies for a guide. Based on these results, an internship guide was prepared for the companies, which was used for the next two internship rounds. Following these rounds, the companies were also interviewed and the results used to improve the guideline. Effects of the project: - 25 students were able to take part in an internship in Germany or Estonia - The project has received a lot of recognition and the KSG has been awarded both the European Language Label and the third place in the success story of the program “Edu&Tegu” in Estonia. - The project has also attracted attention from the network "Ettevõtlusse edendamiseks" due to the work placements. A representative from the KSG was invited to present the project. - Business education continues in its improved form at the KSG. Meanwhile, in the year 2019 the 3rd generation took their final exams and the 6th generation enrolled. Business education remains firmly anchored in the school's development plan. - The project has provided a good basis for further cooperation between the two schools. In addition to further cooperation in the preparation of final examinations in the profile subject Business, further questions on the different approaches to teaching entrepreneurship have developed. At the same time, the importance of cultural differences (in student exchange as well as in internship support) is a question that we would like to explore in the future. Therefore, the BBS and the KSG also signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the spring of 2019, confirming the intention to continue working together in the economic sector and targeting another joint Entrepreneurship Gamification project with a third school from a third country.
