Project summary

Year after year, teachers in our schools have been using traditional methodologies, these traditional methodologies were mainly based on the linguistic and mathematical mode, students with different learning styles were not enough motived as it was hard for them to follow the pace of the lesson. After analyising the results of the teaching/ learning process we felt a change was necessary. The idea of the project "I learn, you learn but together we double" arose from a common need that two partner schools had, the need of a change in their teaching practice. The main aim of our Strategic Partnership is to strengthen the profile of the teaching profession: to let the teachers of our schools learn about new methodologies and get better in this field; and by doing so, to give our pupils a chance to have better educational circumstances, to have more success at school and to be more successful later on in the European labour market. Project Partner schools are: 1. Ocejon School from Spain (with English bilingual program). 2. Suadiye Primary and Secondary School from Turkey. 3. Scoala Gimnaziala Nr 12 from Romania. 4. Publiczne Gimnazjum w Binarowej from Poland. 5. 37 Dimotiko Sxoleio Irakleiou Kritis The planned activities of our project “I learn, you learn but together we double learn” are in part home-country activities (abbreviated: HoA) in part transnational training activities (abbreviated: TrA; 5 days long each time) which alternate and build tightly one upon the other: -Tr M1: first transnational project meeting. Aims: to strengthen commitment of partners, to start the project and to disseminate it. -HoA1: Formative course on a new teaching methodology: "Cooperative Learning" with professional themes organized in the home countries as preparation for teachers going to participate in transnational training events as well as for all the teaching staff in order they get familiar with the new teaching methodology. Aims: to learn about a new teaching methodology: "Coopeative Learning". -TrA1: short-term joint staff training event. Further training (2 days) on the theme: Multiple Intelligences Theory. Job shadowing and workshops (3days) on the following themes: 1. Designing activities to cover all different types of intelligences. How to maintain students' attention and motivation high by means of giving response to different learning styles: visual, knesthetic, natural... 2.Working in cooperative groups. Aims: to attain knowledge on this theme, getting inspired, sharing thoughts and getting impulses from successful experts and colleagues. Observation of educational work, learning from each other, getting inspired in relation to one's own teaching methods. Methods:lectures and presentations, professional discussions. Observation of open lessons and other school activities with subsequent consultation and workshops in order to get ideas on how to blend learned things into one's own teaching practice. -HoA2: observation in each partner school, transmission of what has been learned on the further training. Aims: to spread knowledge, being aware of the project theme through observation of teaching processes, awakening to (higher)consciousness of the project theme. Methods: presentations and workshops; open lessons, teachers’ meetings, professional discussions. -TrA2: short-term exchange of groups of pupils. Job shadowing and workshops on the themes: 1.How to develop students' multiple intelligences with the help of different games and art or sport activities 2. Working in cooperative groups. Half-way revision of the project. -HoA3-4: Blending of learned new methods and good practices into own teaching practice; transmission of them in each partner school for colleagues who have not participated in transnational training events. -TrA3: short-term exchange of pupils. Job shadowing and workshops on the theme: 1. How to involve all of our students in class. 2. Working in cooperative groups. 3. Helping each other. 4. Motivating and keeping our students' attention. -TrA4: short-term joint staff training event. Themes: using ICT to plan our lessons in order to motivate our students with different learning styles. Closing event of the project. We will use a participative and active methodology giving each partner the opportunity to share their ideas. As a result we expect that new teaching methodologies start being used in our schools. Using these new methodologies we aim to satisfy all our students' needs, we aim that all of them get fully engaged in our lessons regardless their learning style. Furthermore we expect an important impact at local and regional levels, we aim to increase cooperation between teachers, students and parents; international connections and communicative competence in the English language will be developed, meeting new cultures will open teachers' and students' minds, developing attitudes of tolerance and respect towards others. All in all, the project will be a turning point in our schools.

Our project included one transnational meeting and four transnational learning, teaching and training activities (hereinafter LTT activities). Out of the four LTT activities two of them were short-term joint staff training events and the other two were short-term exchange of groups of pupils. They took place as follows: 1. Transnational meeting, Turkey, October 2017. This meeting meant the beginning of our project. In this meeting the main aspects of the project were discussed: - Presentation of each country, school and the role of each partner in the project. - Each partner filled in a questionnaire about the teaching methodologies used in their schools and about all those aspects that need to be improved. - We detailed all the activities, the length, purpose and expected results of each one of them. - We dealt about the implementation of cooperative learning in our schools. - The project logo was presented. - We formed a team in charge of resolution of conflicts. - We established a "cooperative learning implementation calendar". Report Form 2. Short-term joint staff training events, Spain, March 2018. The following activities were carried out: - Job shadowing (use of CLIL methodology in a bilingual school). - Formative course on Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory. - Visit other educative centres. - Cultural visits. 3. Short-term exchange of groups of pupils, Poland, September 2018. - Job shadowing. - Workshops upon the following themes: how to develop students' multiple intelligences with the help of different games and art or sport activities.
