Project summary

This project, entitled HEALTHY-TOWN was created by four school partners from different parts and realities (rural, urban) of the European Union (Spain, France (Reunion Island), Poland and Finland) with different points of view about the same issue. It is a result of the needs these schools had and focuses on three main topics: Mental Health (and Emotional Education), Nutrition, and Exercise (Physical or Sportive activities) To achieve the aims of this project is necessary: 1. To spread a new healthy attitude and style, a strong mind in a healthy body, not just to teachers and students, but to the local community and regional social services, making the target participants the bigger the better. · 2. To practise English as a vehicular language through new technologies (like mobile telephone). · 3. To establish connections immediately after critical events (a sportive challenge, for example) like one way to improve inclusion of all students, specially those who are not integrated into the society · 4. And finally to involve as much of the educational community as possible in the development of the project: students and teachers of ESO, parents and all educational community, specially those with less resources. HEALTHY TOWN is a project which aims to encourage and enable our students to participate in some sportive events adapted to their level, but with some difficulties for them to make an effort, improving their healthy way of life and their self-esteem using their initiative and capacity as well as to recognize their personal skills and competences in order to overcome these accessible sportive challenges. For that reason , in this project students have to overcome some sportive challenges proposed by their teachers to arrive to the HEALTHY-TOWN (an imaginary place). One sportive challenge will be a great opportunity for the students, in order help them to overcome other situations in the daily life. They will be capable of preparing the challenge with successful guarantee and at the same time, they will use their ICT skills, technology and English language (spacially Mobil telephone, or tablets like a education tool, facing against cyber-bullying use of these instruments). The students will also create products and results, such as a presentation, a multimedia show, or some other form of alternative assessment related to the challenges as well as subjects . Furthermore, through the activities of the project and with a gamificated methodology, students will both win score (points) and medals until they get to the HEALTHY TOWN, and develop basic skills (related to ICTs , healthy habits, mental health… linked together). All sportive challenges will be done during school partners visits, and will remain in school after end of the project. There will be some sportive challenges in each school, and also during learning activities in short exchanges . Students will be able to deal with emotions such as fears and frustrations ( positive and negative emotions) and teachers and educators will provide a positive and safe space to strengthen students the way of facing this challenge. Moreover, the team-work and gamification activities of the project will improve inclusion for those not –integrated students , as well as participation of all students.
