Project summary

“Smart Wellness” is a Strategic Partnership for Schools formed by the coordinating “IES Blas Infante” in Córdoba, south of Spain and the partner “Elementary School Pacov” in Pacov, in the south of the Czech Republic. Some 1000 students are educated in the Spanish school at Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Professional Formation. Some 600 pupils from 6 to 15 are taught at the Czech institution. Both schools are implementing the CLIL approach and have the same educative urge for enabling the European dimension. We have three main common educative priorities: inclusion, the acquisition of key competences and open and innovative practices in a digital era. Smart wellness has been chosen as a relevant and feasible common thread to learners. This will allow us to achieve three objectives: - Create Digital Applications to serve the improvement of a healthy lifestyle. - Foster scientific vocations among female students. - Develop entrepreneurial spirit in search of healthy eating habits. The whole schools communities are taking part. Feeding schools will also contribute to the project. The partnership will be a launching ramp for our less able and disability students to show their competences. The most talented and gifted students will develop their abilities through challenging contents. Girls are going to be encouraged to scientific vocations. Plurilingual students will greatly benefit being more competent linguistic participants. The activities to implement the project include: Technical preparation on digital tools, surveys and reports to compare the partners’ project topics, selling of healthy food, eating at chosen restaurants, families gatherings to taste the recipes, lecture on scientist woman, round table on female students and staff and a mock “Congress” on scientific women. Some disseminating events and activities are: participation in the May Entrepreneurs Fair, creation of weblogs for users and visitors to interact, getting more information and assess their understanding and the quality of products. The method will be the task based approach. Students will be given a challenge they are going to solve. The process will require collaborative and team work. They are rewarded when producing high quality results. On top, the best productive participants will fully interact with the partner school in the exchange mobilities. We want our pupils to be part of the so called “Maker culture”, which emphasizes informal, networked, peer-led and shared learning motivated by fun and self-fulfillment. We expect these results: -An App for healthy restaurants which consider special dietary needs. It will be used by any visitor or local interested in eating in places that care for these requirements. The App will still be useful after the project. -A digital healthy recipe book. The digital tool offers a professional but easy presentation very suitable for all ages and expertise. The printed version will be sold in the entrepreneurial fair, families will cook recipes and then shared. After the project, the book will still be used. -An exhibition on scientific women with a NFC code to allow interaction with a “Kahoot” quiz. It will be offered to other schools and institutions. -A STEM Women “Congress”. Students will act as the scientific women in the exhibition. They will sell their project and ask for funding. -A lecture by one of the scientific women and a round table with girl students and teachers who have chosen scientific studies at university. This partnership will foster digital skills development, awareness towards scientific vocations, an improvement in creativity and entrepreneurial spirit and further knowledge about healthy eating and dietary needs. We expect an improvement in conflicts related to the use of new technologies and cyber bullying. A bigger interest in scientific vocations especially among our young girls is also foreseen. We look forward to more creative and entrepreneurial future adults, who have been educated in our institutions. We also desire our school communities to be more aware of disabled and poor school performance students. Local restaurants will be made aware of special dietary needs and will hopefully serve for a shift in the way they address this lack. The productions will be used after the project: The restaurants app will be used by any tourist and local people. The STEM women exhibition will be used by different schools, the digital healthy recipe book will be used by the two schools, families will enjoy healthy meals, the printed version will be sold in the entrepreneurship fair, so many people will benefit from it. The digital book will be uploaded to eTwinning for everybody to use it. We will also disseminate this and the rest of outputs in the eTwinning platform and our teachers’ centres.

Final report summary

“Smart Wellness” has been a Strategic Partnership for Schools formed by the coordinating “IES Blas Infante” in Córdoba, south of Spain and the partner “Elementary School Pacov” in Pacov, in the south of the Czech Republic. Smart wellness was chosen as a relevant and feasible common thread to learners, what has allowed us to achieve three objectives: - Create Digital Applications to serve the improvement of a healthy lifestyle. - Foster scientific vocations among female students. - Develop entrepreneurial spirit in search of healthy eating habits and women empowerment. 41 students from each school aged between 12 and 17 years old have taken part in exchange mobilities including three special needs students. 8 members of staff from each school have also moved. Within the two schools, all the students have been direct participants in the project activities and more than 80% of teachers have joined the project at some time along the two years. Families, non teaching staff, feeding schools and many public and private institutions have made a priceless contribution to the success and enhancement of the project. The partnership has been a launching ramp for our less able and disability students to show their competences. The most talented and gifted students have developed their abilities through challenging contents. Girls have been encouraged to scientific vocations. Plurilingual students have greatly benefitted becoming more competent linguistic participants. The activities to implement the project include: Technical preparation on digital tools, cooking and selling of healthy food, eating at chosen restaurants, families gatherings to share recipes, a set of lectures by scientist women and a fair on scientific women. Some disseminating events and activities have been: participation in the June Entrepreneurs Fair, creation of a webpage with information about the meetings, activities, outputs and diffusion. These are the main results: -Two Apps for healthy restaurants which consider special dietary needs made by each school. They can be used by visitors and locals interested in eating in places that care for these requirements. -A common “Smart Recipes” cookery book. It adapts traditional recipes from the two countries to different dietary options related to low calorie diets, allergies and intolerances, personal choices as vegan and vegetarian options and religions options such as Halal and Kosher. We have sold it within the schools communities and cooked recipes. -Two Exhibitions and two “Smart Trees” about scientific women made by each school according their technical skills. -A Set of Lectures on STEM Women around the 11th of February to foster the interest of our pupils and especially of our girls on scientific subjects and to overcome the gender gap in science. -A Fair about Scientific Women made by all the 20 classes where each class prepared a stand and theatre performances to disseminate their women. Other students received the information and played a Kahoot game to check the understanding and voted for their favourite woman scientist. The project was awarded with the Scientix STEM Discovery Week 2018 and took part in the 23rd Science Projects Workshop in the Future Classroom in Brussels. It was also a runner up in the 3rd Edition of the Regional Contest “Vida Sana”. We have also taken part in Europe Code Week 2018. We disseminated our project at the teachers centre as well. This partnership has fostered digital skills development, awareness towards scientific vocations, an improvement in creativity and entrepreneurial spirit and further knowledge about healthy eating and dietary needs. We expect fewer conflicts related to new technologies and cyber bullying. A bigger interest in scientific vocations especially among our young girls is already seen. Now more creative and entrepreneurial future adults are being educated in our institutions. We have clearly created a bigger awareness and focus towards our disabled and poor school performance students. Many local restaurants have been made aware of special dietary needs. The productions are being used after the project: the restaurants apps can be used by any tourist and local people, the “Smart Recipes” book is being used by the two schools, families are enjoying healthy meals, anybody can download it from the project webpage and cook the recipes. The STEM women exhibitions are going to be used again this school year at our schools and used by other different schools.
