“WALKING THE LINE ” is one Erasmus project created by schools from Spain, Romania, Germany, Lithuania and Italy. After having experience with eTwinning and other projects, these schools analyzed their needs and requests which have been taking into account in the application stage of this project. Indeed, it stems from the educational possibilities offered by pathways, hiking trails or other outdoor activities. In this project every school must prepare a trekking route in their own country about one historical topic. This trekking route must include exile or historical fact or any historical reason for making it. Different tasks (maps, food, drink, clothes, information) will be developed by different groups of students. All the schools will share the experience about sports and cultural /historical heritage with the partner institutions, their local communities while at the same time, practise different languages (English and national languages) and work on ICT skills about contents of hiking. Hence, the project will get our students engaged in creative, sportive, outdoors activities, partners coming from areas with deep roots of historical values, traditions; these tend to have a natural interest in pursuing creative solutions to social, economic and intercultural issues. Our aim is to prepare, plan, and use the routes to achieve the following objectives: 1.To practice one physical activity in the natural environment, (one Hiking/trekking in each country ) 2. Get students involved in outdoor activities, as well as develop autonomy and respect for nature and everything around them. 3. To improve students basic skills related to new technologies and English language. 4 To increase the acquisition of healthy habits 5 To overcome the socioeconomic disadvantage, making the integration of all students (and facing other problems like bullying or reducing early school leaving) 6. Through activities of the project, especially trekkings proposed, students can develop a deep understanding of history and answer questions about the present by engaging with the past. They have the potential to spark curiosity and to engage students with the dilemmas, choices and beliefs of people in the past. The partners of this project have experience in running European projects, all of them share the same interest in sport and physical activities; they also have common problems like low motivated students, bullying, integration of socially disadvantaged students; The partnership share the same values, such as human dignity, freedom of expression, democracy, equality, through knowing our historical past. Passing these values to our students will let them develop their sense of European citizenship. All students and educational community will be active participants in this project; the partners schools will work with different partners and organizations (not only schools, as collaboration will be effective with hiking clubs, museums, town -halls,or sportive clubs, or excursion teams). This project about Intercultural learning through historical pathways brings together a lot of people from different European countries, who will share their cultures, experience and learn from one other, using hiking ways as the framework. The activities will empower our students, enabling them to generate positive impact at individual, community, national and European levels. The language of the partnership will be English, thus all the partners will improve their motivation to develop their language skills. The results of the project will be multidisciplinary and all information about project will be posted in social media and European online plattforms (like Etwinning or School Ed Gateway), like collaborative work , presentations of the students, social media results, hiking guides of activities etc . Some events like Trekkings will be use in the future by hiking clubs or other schools with interest in the project. Furthermore, there will be new skills in all subjects that will add to the curriculum of the subjects, students improve their Key competencies (and self-confidence, motivation) and in the schools will improve their Internationalisation and EU dimension.
WALKING THE LINE has been an Erasmus + project created by schools from Spain, Germany, Italy, Romania and Lithuania. It has been done from the educational possibilities offered by trails, hiking trails or other outdoor activities. Our goals have consisted of preparing, planning and using the routes to achieve the following objectives: 1. Practicing a physical activity in the natural environment (a trekking / trekking in each country). 2. Involving students in outdoor activities, as well as developing their autonomy and respect for nature and everything that surrounds them. 3. Improving basic student skills related to new technologies and English. 4. Increasing the acquisition of healthy habits. 5. Trying to overcome the socioeconomic disadvantages and achieve the integration of all students. 6. Through the project activities, especially the proposed walks, students can develop a deep understanding of the story and answer questions about the present by knowing the past. These activities can arouse their curiosity and involve students with the dilemmas, choices and beliefs of people in the past. 7. Developing your sense of European citizenship. The characteristics of the association: The partners of this project started from different experiences in the execution of European projects, and all of them sharing interest in sport and physical activities. In addition to common problems (poorly motivated students, bullying, integration of disadvantaged students) and sharing the same values, (dignity, freedom of expression, democracy, equality) something that has been achieved through knowing our historical past. In this project on intercultural learning through historical paths, they have met with many people from different European countries, to share cultures, experiences and learning from others or, using hiking as a framework. Pupils from each school have participated in local activities, and more than one hundred pupils and teachers have taken part in school exchange activities (or ‘foreign exchange programmes’ ) over the course of the project’s two-year duration. The pupils participated actively in the project, shared ideas and worked cooperatively with other pupils of different ages in their own and associated schools. As a result, the number of pupils who regularly engage in healthy physical activity has increased, and their basic skills (in new technologies, history, geography and English) have improved. At the same time they have learned to become more independent and developed greater respect for nature, healthy habits , integration, and an understanding of history and European values have been strengthened. .
